The 15,000 military absentee voters in 2000 should push for
"Disenfranchised" on their plates.

More often than not, they're fibbing. Only 23 of 82 active specialty tags sold more than 15,000 units last year. Those that fail to sell more than 8,000 copies over five years are scrapped. COOL!!!
So if I can get 15000 bachelors to sign saying they'll buy it, we can get H
OOTERS license plates???
BTW, I'd love to see the pics for that!!!
LOL!

So if I can get 15000 bachelors to sign saying they'll buy it, we can get HOOTERS license plates??? Believe it or not they HAD a HOOTERS tag. The Miami Hooters (arena?) football team.
Unfortunately, I didn't act fast enough and I guess they didn't sell 8k of them since the were discontiued a few years ago.
The conversational factor alone would have been worth it to get :-)

I'm referring to Terri Schiavo. I know several "judges," a "lawyer," and a rotten husband that would buy them.

In Louisiana they put the specialty plates program on hiatus because pro-abortion activists objected to a plate that advocated people "choose life". The irony being the pro-abortion crowd could have one of their own and there were several tags already issued for religious institutions. They suspended it over it's "contentious" nature. whereas it's contentious to ask them not to kill babies it's perfectly reasonable to ask them to not kill the Brown Bear.

I wonder if "Choose Rationality" would be allowed...

LAT/WP affiliate - needs excerpting.

"woefully reflected the public's resounding lack of enthusiasm for arena football."
Hey arena football is okay, it just has some small problems. Mainly it is played on a small field. If it were just played on a field say 100 yards long it would be okay and....
oh never mind.

He's had a column in the Miami Herald for many years. He is quite liberal, and I usually can't stand reading it.

Do you think they would send one to me in Illinois? I'd like one that says "Teach husbands to clean" or "Smack a lazy husband today" lol

I like him because he skewers the Disney Corporation at every opportunity.

You are right about him skewering Disney, and I noticed he didn't say anything about the "Choose Life" Tag in FL.

Great author - didn't know he was writing columns... I believe he wrote columns before writing books, and he can be quite the irritating Leftist. I like Dave Barry better.

Good article. Made me laugh.
Our state, ironically the Australian "Sunshine State", has really boring standard licence plates...
and the speciality ones aren't much better.
(Someone, for instance, tell me what on EARTH the "Looney Toons" characters have to do with the state of Queensland? Or are Daffy, Tweety and Porky Pig supposed to be reflections on the mental capacity/behaviours of the socialist-run government?)

Here is an interesting FL license tag--for those of you who enjoy making fun of us. Click on the tag to enlarge.

FWIW, I like my "Go Fishing" tag. Oh, and it was 78º here yesterday.
