Vanity: [FR Poll] If it's Kerry vs Bush how will you vote?
2/7/2003 | FR

I thought because there is a poll on FR that says "If it's Kerry vs Bush how will you vote?" it would be good to start a thread on the matter for people to explain how they voted in the poll, if they choose to do so.

Sometimes I have to wonder at those who pine for the days of Clinton and "gridlock". I have to wonder, is Free Republic really a success, when there are conservatives who think the country might be better off under an extreme leftist socialist like Kerry or Edwards?

I don't yearn for any such thing, and I have no delusions about the idiocy of Kerry and/or Edwards, which is why I will vote for Bush. However, it is an indisputable fact that spending growth is higher now then it was under either Clinton or Carter. I beleieve that after national security, that the overall size of government is THE most important issues, as the more people who live off the government, the harder and harder it becomes to fight further government intrustions into our lives. The fact is that with W as president, the Republican congress has been completley AWOL. Completley. Even they know it as evidienced by the comments at the recent Republican retreat.

Therefore, myself and others speculate that if a Democrat was President, spending would not be as bad. Notice none of us has actually called for Kerry to beat Bush, we have just specualted. If you all want to hide your head in the sand and pretend that there is no problem with a Republican president being a worse spender than Clinton and Carter, go ahead. It's not doing the country any favors though.

Lisa, sorry for the loss of your friend. I, too, knew someone who never returned. It sickens me when I read how Kerry was accusing our young men of atrocities. Kerry appears to be a very shallow, opportunistic person.

Straight Republican ticket...until I get to the top and vote for Kerry.

I disagree with 99% of his ideas no doubt but its the only way to get the Republican Party to stop their war on the middle-class in general, and conservatives, in particular. They will stand up and fight a demoRat President's stupid ideas, but not their own.

Sadly, gridlock is the only way to go.

Things are going well, we have been really busy, flying a lot this week. There is a big transition of troops going on here now, we have a new Headquarters group, and this place *Cp Anaconda* is really getting crowded.

Not at all. I will vote for Bush, come hell or high water. However, I think we should make our voices known when we disagree with the President, as a matter of course. It is our duty to " address the government with grievances" (paraphrase), no matter who is in charge.

I am in no way undecided, and haven't been so for at least five years.

Thanks for the response. Am I a bot or what?:)

No, really. I think it behooves us to vote for Bush. It's just that a lot of spoiled people are ready to cut off their noses to spite their faces.

I'll add that it's an unfortunate, in some ways, but NOT others, choice that we all must make. Sitting out the election, or voting 3rd party simply elects a Democrat, IMHO.

EXCELLENT POST ... A Vote for Kerry/Edwards/Any Dem is a Vote against the furture of Our Country

This needs to be repeated to Remind Some of what they have forgotten

Oh for the days of Democrats in power. Remember what happened to the judiciary under Clinton? More federal judges appointed than under any other one president. Environazi regulations and laws that nearly crippled industry in the United States. Remember what happened to the Justice Department? Waco, Ruby Ridge, Elian Gonzalez. They even found a way to cause a scandal in the Travel Office. And foreign affairs? War in Kosovo. But a blind eye to Osama Bin Laden. Oh for the glory days of Democrats saying, "No, we don't need to capture Bin Laden. This is something for the Police. Call in the FBI, Interpol, somebody. But we dare not oppose the terrorist states. The UN will take care of it." Yes, that sounds like excellent policy.

Who yearns for the days of tax increases? Well if you do, happy days will soon be here again when Kerry is President and "gridlock" is achieved. Who looks at the 9th Circuit and thinks, "that's a fine group of Constitutional scholars, wish the Supreme Court looked like that"? The Democrats feel your pain. Can't wait for "patriot" to be a dirty word again? Then cast your vote for Kerry.

I will vote for Bush--as many times as I can.

If the Pubbies don't come up with an answer to Dem voter fraud, we are just going to have to come up with a better system of multiple Pubbie votes. Ideas, anyone?

Sadly, gridlock is the only way to go.

You are willing to give up a somewhat conservative power to liberals? You are willing to concede defeat to democrats after 2 years of power after the democrats had control for 71 years? You want a liberals in control? There will not be a gridlock, the rino's in congress flop with the wind, a liberal president will only enhance them. A republican president has at least some sway. Do you think a liberal president will force the rinos to vote conservative? You are a fool.

I beleieve that after national security, that the overall size of government is THE most important issues, as the more people who live off the government, the harder and harder it becomes to fight further government intrustions into our lives.

I'm not so sure that the size of government is the most important issue, after national security. I think the moral fabric of the nation is another big issue. What was that about our form of government fit only for a moral, religious people? Sorry I'm no good at quotes.

But for moral leadership, George W. Bush or ? Democrats who care nothing about the slaughter of innocents? Who applaud the cultural and moral decline of this nation while ensuring that the next generation will be ever more immersed in their Marxist propaganda?

This is not to say that the size of government is unimportant. It is very important and should be one of the top issues for any conservative. Rather than gridlock, perhaps more conservatives in Congress? Because right now, most Americans like sucking off the government teat. They like it and it's reflected in the representatives that they elect. It's reflected in who got the popular vote last time there was a Presidential election. Putting a supporter of "government teat-sucking" in power will do little to alter the socialist course of the nation.

The fact is that with W as president, the Republican congress has been completley AWOL. Completley. Even they know it as evidienced by the comments at the recent Republican retreat. On this you are absolutely right. But isn't changing and influencing Congresspeople more significant than changing Presidents, if what you're looking for is a principled and determined Congress? It's not like Newt Gingrich will be in charge. Isn't it disturbing that they blame Bush for their own lack of resolve and discipline?

Notice none of us has actually called for Kerry to beat Bush, we have just specualted.

Actually several people on the thread have called for exactly that, and others have been saying it in other threads. "Gridlock" by another name is "Kerry for President". Those who support gridlock support a Democrat in the White House, and his or her minions in Cabinet positions.

SHEER LUNACY, SHEER LUNACY,

Please tell us all what a John Kerry Cabinet will look like, and how John Kerry will use his power to issue Executive Orders?

Gte a hold of yourself Walkin Man, John Kerry is more liberal than Ted Kennedy, Kerry is likely to appoint Ramsey Clark to the Supreme Court, Dennis Kucinich as Sec of Defense, Scott Ritter to replace Condi Rice and Jim McDermott as Secretary od State

My father was a Vietnam vet and trust me, his opinion of Kerry and his wearing of his military background on his sleeve is that he could quite possibly be one of the largest assholes walking the face of planet earth!

Hey, I resemble that remark. I am a VNV, and myself and all my brothers agree with your father re Kerry. (the aswhole part)

I'll vote for President Bush.

I realize he doesn't meet the standard that some posters have for a conservative, but neither do I. The more I read threads on what 'true conservatives' believe, the more I'm glad not to be counted among them. My priorities aren't money, guns or government tyranny...I grew up poor and feel rich now, I own a gun and I really don't think Big Brother is out to get me.

My priorities are God, family and country....President Bush has done a wonderful job standing before the world and sharing his love for God, he has taken a strong stand on abortion and the institute of marriage and he has defended this country with a defiance that has left our enemies quaking.

No need to jump in to convince me to your side...most of us agree that when we get what we want, we'll listen to opposing views.

I could not agree more!! I wish to God that every day the American people would be forced to watch two commercial airliners slam into the sides of OUR World Trade Center. I wish people would again have to see co-workers (HEY KERRY SUPPORTERS WAKE UP I'M TALKING TO YOU!!) jump from the 89th floor because THAT was the best option. And then another plane detroy the side of OUR Pentagon and kill innocent people there who job it was to protect us. And lastly, watch some of the bravest citizens we have take over the controls from those scumbags in Pennsylvania and plunge to there own death to save possibly the White House or Capital Building.

I thank GOD (and that's G O D, not G-D) for George W. Bush being the man in charge because I don't know where we'd be if he weren't. It about time for you "I'm just going to sit at home, stick your tongues out, i'm voting third party and I hope that teaches 'em" idiots to start getting your goddamn priorities straight and realize you're not going to get everything you want but you WILL get everything you need.

Just think before you start posting all of your whining, cry-baby comments, huh?
