Released October 2003 and one I play a lot lately.

I've got the CD but I want the DVD too. It's on my Santa list for this year.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you, regarding the Oscar that year. Since I was a teenager and first saw both Mr. Roberts and Marty, I've always been convinced that Hank Fonda deserved the best actor award that year, and Mr. Roberts deserved the nod for best pic. Why Fonda wasn't so much as nominated that year remains for me one of Hollywood's enduring mysteries.

Beautiful. And surprising, too, considering that Peck remained an unrepentant lefty, while Sinatra had gone right.

If it wasn't for the influence of The Everly Brothers, I'd be opening in Vegas for Wayne Newton today

LOL

I'll give a hearty Amen! to that.
And admit that just given my own idiosyncratic tastes...I'd be on the knife edge
as to a vote for Borgnine or Fonda on that one.

Probably a coin-flip for me!

Thanks for taking us down memory lane, Doc. I really never appreciated the absolute beauty and style of Frank's voice till after he was gone. Too bad for me.

Thanks for the graphic and the link. I used to own a cassette that included the jokes from their 1962 performance (someone stole it), so I guess I'll be buying this one eventually.

"...I really never appreciated the absolute beauty and style of Frank's voice till after he was gone. Too bad for me..."

'In Cincinatti, or in Rangoon,
I'd simply smile, and all the girls swooned,
With Queens I've, a-la-carted,
But I can't get started,
With you...'

If you let me sing Sinatra to you, I'll make ya feel all clammy inside...

I think another role where Sinatra shines is YOUNG AT HEART. Bad title, miscast Doris Day, but really a very serious film at heart, and Sinatra plays a very interesting character.

My brushes with greatness.

In 196? I had Christmas dinner at Nancy Sinatra's and her then husband Tommy Sands house..Frank wasn't there.

In 1966 at about 3 AM I was sitting, in my Army uniform at the counter in the restaurant at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. Behind me in a booth were Frank Sinatra, Buddy Hackett and a couple of others I didn't recognize...The waitress came to me and said that someone who wishes to remain annonymous would like to buy me anything I'd like...I had a milkshake.

I've been 'round the world in a jet
Richard Gere dumped me in Tibet
Michael Moore left me broken-hearted
And I can't even get started
With you.

I even know the pre-amble:

I'm a glum one, it's explainable...
I met someone, un - atainable,
Life's a bore, the world is my oyster no more...
In the papers, where I led the news,
With my capers, now will spread the news,
Superman, turns out to be flash-in-the-pan...

I'll send the song to ya in an e-mail, sweeties. Took me years to find it on the net, and you beauties are the first ones deserving of it............FRegards

Ping.............................................FRegards

.

If ya never had an answer,
Then ya never had a question.
And if ya never had a question,
Then ya never had a problem!
And if ya never had a problem,
Well, everyone would be happy,
And if everyone was happy,
There'd never be a love song...

My mom was one of those bobbysoxers screaming behind the wooden sawhorses. She never got in, because the girls who got into the earlier shows never left!

I remember seeing an old B&W movie with a very skinny Frank singing Moonlight Becomes You (it goes with your hair...you certainly know the right things to wear...)

I wish I knew the name of the movie so I could rent it.

I always hated the ending to "Von Ryan's Express"... I wish the Chairman made the train.
