I'll have to respectfully disagree with you, regarding the Oscar that year. Since I was a teenager and first saw both Mr. Roberts and Marty, I've always been convinced that Hank Fonda deserved the best actor award that year, and Mr. Roberts deserved the nod for best pic. Why Fonda wasn't so much as nominated that year remains for me one of Hollywood's enduring mysteries.

I'll give a hearty Amen! to that.
And admit that just given my own idiosyncratic tastes...I'd be on the knife edge
as to a vote for Borgnine or Fonda on that one.
Probably a coin-flip for me!
