Norm Miller, chairman of Interstate Batteries, replaced his company's hood-sized logo with an ad for "The Passion" on NASCAR driver Bobby Labonte's Chevrolet. The car will carry the ad during the Daytona 500 race Feb. 15.Gotta love Norm Miller and Interstate for doing this.

"It's the best evangelization opportunity we've had since the actual death of Jesus" Stunningly bad taste, in my opinion.
To: Leroy S. Mort
I thought the same thing.

Stunningly bad taste, in my opinion. Poorly stated, and probably not entirely correct, but she's correct in the sense that it will reach a lot of folks who are searching, but unwilling to enter the doors of a church. I think it's a good way to reach people.

Well that settles what battery I'll ever buy if I need one.
I can't wait to see the revival that takes place because of this, and I also can't wait to watch those converted vote this coming fall.

"It's the best evangelization opportunity we've had since the actual death of Jesus," Lisa Wheeler, associate editor of Catholic Exchange, a Web portal dedicated to Internet evangelism, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.Oh!?
I guess that's why Catholics still have Him on the cross, whereas Protestants display an EMPTY Cross.
We like to think the RESURRECTION is the reason for our faith; NOT His death.....

AP reported, "The groundswell is stunning considering the once-dismal expectations for the film And who had "dismal expectations for the film"? The writer for AP, of course. Who is stunned? The same person.

And I'll add some scripture to Elsie's post...
Paul is writing the Romans and using Abraham's faith as an example of saving faith and he says
"This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness." The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. " - Romans 4:22 - 25
Yes, Jesus had to be sacrified and experience death - both physical and spiritual (i.e. - judgment and separation from the Father and the Spirit) death, but the resurrection means that the sacrifice made on the cross was an acceptable payment for our sins.

Elsie, Elsie, Elsie....
There is no Resurrection without the Crucifixion. There is no Crucifixion without the Incarnation. It's all of a piece, but the Crucifixion is the center of the piece: the total sacrificial offering, once for all, of the God-Man Jesus Christ to the Father. Maybe that's why Catholics and Orthodox prefer a Crucifix. I shan't speculate as to what, other than mere iconoclasm, motivates the Protestants.
1 Corinthians 2:2 "For I judged not myself to know anything among you, but Jesus Christ: and him crucified."

The crucifix is an appropriate reminder of Christ's sacrifice and, as such, does not deny his resurrection. If the crucifix denies his resurrection, then the empty cross denies his crucifixion. Of course, neither does any such thing.

Be nice. There would be no resurrection without His death first. One without the other would leave us all still guilty before God.

You've never heard of the Great Commission? "Go ye therefore into all the world, preaching the Gospel to all people." I'd say Mel has stunningly obeyed that command.

I wonder if there will be a positive, long-lasting effect from this movie or will it just become a distant memory after all the hoopla is over?
It could change the way people look at their culture, family life, government, how parents educate their children. The list is endless.
It will be interesting to see what effect it really has over the years.

I guess that's why Catholics still have Him on the cross, whereas Protestants display an EMPTY Cross. Christ's mystical Body on earth is still suffering.
Colossians 1:24 Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.
Matthew 25
39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
