SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.
The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Nine terror cells threaten flights at Ben-Gurion
Nine terror cells threaten flights at Ben-Gurion
Security sources reveal: Some attempts were prevented in early stages,
others shortly before implementation.
Ben Kaspit Maariv 20 February 2004
maarivintl.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=article&articleID=3296
Palestinian terrorist organizations have been making great efforts to attack
flights at Ben Gurion Airport. To date, the Israeli security services have
prevented nine attempts to down flights taking-off or landing at the
airport.
These attempts are behind Israel's insistence on building an extension of
the counter-terrorism barrier that is designed to protect the airport from
the east and prevent shoulder-fired missiles or other weapons from being
aimed at flights, similar to the Al Qaeda attempt to down an Arkia flight in
Kenya.
Security officials predict that a successful attack or even an attempt that
reaches the final stages would have a devastating affect on the Israeli
economy by paralyzing civil aviation and halting incoming tourism. Their
information indicates that some Palestinian organizations, especially the
Palestinian Authority, are also aware of this. Therefore, they are also
interested in preventing an attack on civil aviation for fear that if would
lead to total escalation of tensions in the region.
Israel explained to the American delegation, which came to inspect security
at Ben-Gurion, that the threats on flights come mostly from the Hezbollah
and Iranian-influenced opposition groups. Israel and the United States
disagree about the need for extending the barrier near the airport. Israel
claims that there is a real risk to civil aviation while the Americans
disagree and consider the risk to be minimal. A senior IDF officer who
accompanied the delegation discounted the American calculation by explaining
that they consider the risk to a specific flight while Israel calculated the
overall risk to all flights.

Terror groups are nothing new to Japan though
Any attempt to provide an accurate description of Japan's Aum Shinrikyo ("Supreme Truth") religious cult would quickly exhaust the vocabulary of the bizarre
Beginning with a score of disciples in 1984, Asahara's sect grew rapidly - to 1,500 devotees in 1987 and more than 25,000 in 1988.

Thank you.
I suppose I should reiterate that no hamsters or cats were harmed in the taking of that photograph, and that Stewart and Meow are best buds. Stewart occasionally escapes and Meow obligingly corners him and meows until someone comes to see what the problem is. She won't even try to pick him up. I think she thinks he's some other cats kitten. Stewart is cool hamster but Meow is an AWESOME cat!

Yes the 21st was an important day on an earlier thread.
FEB 21st is a NEW MOON....AND...THE LAST DAY of Muslim year 1424, lest there be any doubt...I looked it up.
Not a good "conjunction" of events in my view. Use caution on Saturday through Sunday.

The Chicago perspective
Missing Chicago banker found
Family dispute led to disappearance?
By Charles Thomas
February 20, 2004 (Chicago and Portland, Maine) Government sources said that Zubair Ghias' disappearance may have been the result of a domestic problem. The 27-year-old investment banker was found on an international flight Thursday night. His wife reported him missing on Saturday.
Ghias has not been charged with any crime. According to a CNN report, Ghias disappearance is related to a domestic dispute. That government source reportedly said that officials have ruled out international terrorism. Chicago officials have all but confirmed that report.

Chemical Explosion Blasts Research Facility - LA JOLLA, CalifAn apparent chemical explosion rocked a La Jolla research facility Friday, sparking a fire and prompting contamination concerns, 10News reported.
The blast occurred in a laboratory at Scripps Research Institute in the 10600 block of North Torrey Pines Road around 10 a.m.
Hundreds of employees were evacuated from the building and one person was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Engine crews had the resulting blaze quelled by 11 a.m., he said. They then called in a hazardous-materials team to check the complex for the presence of any unhealthy substances.

Did you read the post about how Daleel disappeared soon after admitting his presence at and his possible overseeing of the Ridyha bombing? They were kinda joking about it over there, but I've been thinking about it alot, and it sounds very reasonable. Before he would just make threats in a juvenile way for a few months, then he comes right out and admits participation in a bombing, then suddenly disappears. I'm hoping those are good signs, as progress in busting these supporters. That article is pretty curious too.

It wasn't so much correcting English and noting that there are a few terrorists in our own country with bad intentions. One would not be nearly so frightening. We could do a John Walsh on that one and throw his bu!! in jail before he could jihad us.

IMO, 9/11 was actually a failure. It was probably intended to fully decapitate the leadership of our country. Something much larger might have followed had they actually succeeded. This may sound naive, but I hadn't considered the full extent of what might have happened, or the totality of their "plan". I suppose, since the attack was such a shock and tragedy, I hadn't wrapped my brain around anything other than the plan being a shock and tragedy. You've given me more to mull.

After reading your post about the Danes, they have my admiration. They have the courage to act decisively in the face of imminent threat to all countries harboring Muslims.

Instead of petunias and pansys around the house, plant potatoes and tomatoes. Not as pretty to look at, but tasty on the table.
