John Kerry: AWOL Senator
The Hill, Jan. 14,2004
http://www.thehill.com/news/011404/gephardt.aspx
The little-noticed law, 2 USC Sec. 39, reads: The Secretary of the Senate and the Chief Administrative Officer of the House
shall deduct from the monthly payments (or other periodic payment authorized by law) of each Member or Delegate the amount of his salary for each day that he has been absent from the Senate or House, respectively, unless such Member or Delegate assigns as the reason for such absence the sickness of himself or of some member of his family.
The ACU. . . plans to target Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), who missed 237 votes last year, 59 percent of the total.
The Washington Times, Jan. 15, 2004
http://washingtontimes.com/national/20040115-120724-2359r.htm
The ACU. . . demanded that Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts and Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut repay 59 percent and 54 percent of their salaries, respectively.
New York Post, January 30, 2004 Friday
According to the Congressional Budget Office, President Bush's 2004 defense budget - $470 billion - is the largest [defense budget] in U.S. history. Kerry was absent for that vote.
(of course, Kerry lied during the January 29th debate, saying, "I have voted for the largest defense budgets in the history of our country," though the record shows he missed that vote." The New York Post, January 30, 2004).
GANNETT NEWS SERVICE, November 25, 2003
Regarding the Medicare vote:
"Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina, two of Lieberman's rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, attended Monday's procedural votes. Edwards voted against final passage of the Medicare bill on Tuesday and Kerry missed the vote to campaign in Iowa."
The New York Times, November 24, 2003
Regarding the vote on the Energy Bill
"In addition, given the narrowness of Friday's vote, it would be useful if three senators who missed the vote -- each a sworn opponent of the bill -- would actually show up when Mr. Frist tries again to shut down the filibuster. The three are Ernest Hollings of South Carolina and two candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination, John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina."
And so on, and so forth.
The bottom line is, Kerry has put his campaign above his constituents. He is an AWOL Senator who has deserted his constituents in Massachusetts to further his own, selfish political interests.

Kerry's not going to win, so long as the media is focused on John Edwards, and John Edwards isn't going to be president so long as he keeps bringing up the same tired old rhetoric the Democrats have been spouting for 40 years. Add to the fact that the Democrats main platform is formed on "Hate Bush". They may think it's cool, cute, and classy now, but by November voters are going to be sick and tired of it. I wouldn't waste my time on Kerry. Everyone was worried about Dean at one time, and Dean imploded. Kerry will self implode as well. Matter of fact, the last guy standing in November will be Bush, because each one of the Democrats are unelectable. While I do agree, ( and my opinion is Edwards will be the next Golden Boy after Kerry is shown to be tainted ) don't overlook the damage the media- both press & entertainment arms- can do to the President in the time leading up to the election.
The media desperately wants a Clinton II, a new Golden Boy to create, love, and worship, and they will pull a 1992 redux of spin, lie, and cover-up to make this happen.
Be that as it may, let's cross-link:

I try :)
I want to make sure that our country remains great and safe. Further, I love this President, and I will defend him using every resource I have.
I will continue to fight to protect my country and President as long as I have air in my lungs.

I can pretty much guarantee that they were there to vote "no" on stopping the filibuster of Bush's court nominations.

"Kerry will resign to campaign"
Not on your life. They are so chicken .. they will keep their senate seat JUST IN CASE THEY DON'T WIN .. they will have something to fall back on.
The real issue is this .. most states allow people to campaign for a new position, without having to give up their old one (such as Lieberman did in Connecticut when he ran for VP). Some states do not allow this. One of those states is South Dakota (and this law change came about as the result of a Republican Governor being elected) .. which tells you why Daschle did not run for President.

Does anyone know if the ACU has filed suit yet? It looks like they should go against Gephardt (90%), Kerry (59%), LIEberman (54%), and then Edwards (31%) for refunds in their Congressional salaries. Suit should be filed by tomorrow afternoon if it hasn't been already. Oh, wait! If he has to refund his salary, then John F'in Kerry wouldn't have the money to pay off his 8 million dollar home loan! (/sarcasm).

You know, even the Dims aren't that wild about Kerry, if I'm reading DUh correctly. Some have switched to Kerry, but there sure isn't the passion there. They're having a hard time supporting a "war hero", I think! LOL!
The bumper sticker I want to see is "Kerry=Gore without the personal charm and charisma."

I think you're right on the bull's-eye and I LOVE your idea for a bumper sticker. That Kerry is one colossal bore.
