A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

How precious we "creatures"great and small are. We bring fun, laughter and comfort to you, our human family and friends. . .. and yes . . . aggravation too! Today we meet a special FRPet...who along with her "mom" has participated in Support Our Troops Rallys. A great American Pup. We hope you enjoy meeting today's FinestFRPets and also hope you will allow us the honor of featuring your special furry (or not so furry) FRPet(s) on the Finest.

Freedom's Rocket..."A Bundle of Joy!"
Gizmo: Good Wednesday Finest Friends. With all the yucky weather we have been having
FredtheCat and I have kind of holed up
venturing outside only to do "you know what". Well, when I saw the thread Aunt Billie posted yesterday, "February is Funnest"
.decided it was time to motivate, brush off the snow and head out to sunny Tennessee and finally meet Rocky and his lovely mom, GailA.
Gizmo: As I arrive early early in the morning GailA is at the computer with a tray filled with coffee, sausage gravy and biscuits and grits
ready to share them with her finest friends. The wonderful aromas are to die for! She greets me with a pat on the head then gently wakes up Rocky whose sleeping under her chair and off she goes to her quilting guild.
Rocky: (yawn and stretch) Hey Giz
.was wondering when you finally were going to visit. Do you know that mom and dad had a Gizmo too???????
Giz: Really????? Gizmo is a pretty cool name
.but people are always playing with it
especially mom and dad. I mean I they call me, Giz, thegiz, Gizzy, Dizmo, DizzyGiz, Gizzymoto, Gizzyronamo and my honorary Aunt Maggie's (Lady X) favorite name for me is Gizmutt. Geesh! Okay
sorry for the digression. So tell me about your Gizmo.
Rocky: Well actually I didn't know him. He passed on about 6 months before mom and dad got me.
Giz: Oh, how sad. Did they have him long?
Rocky: Well, they had Giz for about 10 years. Actually mom helped delivered him. He was the offspring of their dog "Snowball" who they bred after six years.
GailA's Gizmo
Rocky: He was 'moms' dog, so always liked being where she was. He didn't like car rides, but did like walks and 'goodies' . I guess he was good at jumping for treats.
Giz: So what happened?
Rocky: It was strange how one day Giz was healthy, and within a few days was sick
.then gone. They thought he had a cold, took him to the Vet and she said it was more, there were huge masses in his lungs. He was gone by morning, passed away with dad petting him in the middle of the night.
Giz: Oh that must have been so sad for them. Codee, my older sistah passed on a few months ago. It was sad around our house but mom and dad said she's happy and healthy at some place called Rainbow Bridge with a bunch of our favorite Finest Pets.
Gizmo: So Rocky, how about you
.how'd you end up here.
Rocky: They "got me" in October, 2002. And, by the way, my real name is Freedom's Rocket but I'm more like a Rocky don't you think. Anyway, I was 9 weeks old and not to brag but mom and dad say that I was this cute little bundle of black fur and it was love at first sight for them.
Giz: Yeah
.it was kind of that way with me too
except I picked them
they didn't pick me. Actually I was "dumped" in their neighborhood but it all turned out for the best. So did they do that puppy training stuff with the cage thing.
Rocky: OH NO
.I slept with them in bed from day one. My favorite spot is right between mom and dad. And again, not to brag but I was potty trained in three months! No accidents for me!
Giz: Oh man
wish I could say the same thing
.But you know
something about the cold weather. It's much nicer down in these parts. I'd probably be a better boy down here. Again, I digress. Okay
.how about your favorite things
.you know
.."Raindrops on Roses, and Whiskers on Kittens
" ahem
.sorry
. Told you Aunt Billie's thread yesterday just has me singing!!!!
Rocky: Favorite things
Oh ofcourse Chrismas and holidays....They always dress me up...plus.....let's see
favorite snack
pigs ears
.oh and people crackers and sitting on moms lap when I eat them. And my all time favorite toy is a stuffed moose. Mom and dad have bought me lots of toys but this one is my all time favorite. I love to eat the nose off and pull the stuffing out, then mom has to repair it
but you know she loves to sew. My favorite game is to stalk and "kill" it. And I usually go to sleep with him in my mouth. Mom says it's kind of like my "wooby"
Giz: I have this stuffed little beaver thing that when you squeeze it just right, it makes all these funny noises. Sometimes I play with him in the middle of the night. 'Course I'm in bed
it drives the folks nuts
. hehehe. So what else.
Rocky: Well my all time favorite thing besides car rides is going camping. They have this pop up camper thing and when I'm not outside running around I love to lay on the table and look out the window. Oh
and mom usually cooks steak out in the fire and they always have extra for me. Yup camping and van rides are my all time favorite. Oh and, I have my very own "perch" they built for me between them in the van.
Giz: Oh
that's way too cool
You're very own perch
So anything else you want to share.
Rocky: Well
I hate to be left alone so mom takes me lots of places. I even went to a few support our troops rallies, wearing my very own patriotic bandana. I have to admit I'm a real hit! People just think I'm so cute.
Giz: (and I thought I had bragging rights) Well Rocky it sounds like you have a great "gig" going here.
Rocky: Yeck yes....for me it is Christmas everyday....I think I have the best mom and dad in the world. Actually mom was featured in the Finest a while back
.here's HER story GailA
Giz: Well, that's it folks
GailA returned from her meeting and after Rocky and I chowed down on pigs ears
I headed home. Rocky was already fast asleep with "Moose" securely in his mouth and I was kind of missing mom and dad and my own "woobie".
So until next week
..that's this week.

Hello sweet Aqua. I didn't get to meet TC because we were in different parts of the country at the same time. I was very disappointed about this, but it couldn't be helped. We'll be in Texas this summer, Lord willing. I'll catch up with him then.
I did met our lovely Donaeus and I'm crazy about my new friend. She's extremely intelligent and a delight for all who enjoy an intellectual conversation. It's hard to find smart friends that won't waste your time with petty, shallow talk. LOL Of course, around here, there are too many intelligent people to befriend. LOL It's hard to keep up with them all.
Love and blessings....
Awwww, Spookie you are too kind!!! I really hope you do get to come back this summer and I'll try not to keep you all to myself. No promises though! ;) Hehehe Perhaps the President will be kind enough not to schedule another speech and preempt our coffee and pastries. Let the java flow!!

Thanks for posting this list.
Update on my son: he is about to graduate from Basic Training; and then will leave for Texas for AIT (medic.)
He could use prayer right now because he has to pass his PT (physical training) test before he can graduate...he failed the first one by 2 sit-ups!!!
The re-take is this week sometime.
After Texas it's anyone's guess as to where he will end up; possibly back at school, doing National Guard weekends once a month, or possibly active duty, if he/the Army decide that's where he needs to be.
I hear a lot of negative comments from people when I talk about what he is doing........."How could you let him???", "Aren't you worried???", "Is he crazy???", etc. etc. etc.
That is why I so very much appreciate the positive, prayerful support of FReepers.
When he visited him last week (we attended graduation, even though he wasn't allowed to participate due to not passing his PT) he asked me what I was going to tell the FR folks about the base & about our experiences there. This is what I have to say: if the young people we met and observed are any indication of the caliber of the entire U.S. military, then the country is in very good hands indeed.

He doesn't have a name...and he will be in shreds if Rocky can get his teeth into him. I've got to sew up his "moose" again, he chewed another hole in the nose.

Excellent interview ((((((Dutchess))))))) - I just *LOVE* that ((((((Rocky)))))) and ((((((Gail)))))) knows it!
:-)
I heard from Pippin yesterday - she called me at work and we had a nice little chat. She misses all of you and wanted me to send her best and (((HUGS))) to all. Her "forced exile" has been difficult, but she understands the importance of not posting from work. She can't wait to be up and running once again from home.
(((((((HUGS))))))))))) to all of you and to my special and most fuzzy of brothahs,

Hi Mozart. So good to see you here and thanks for the update on your son. You must be very proud. I'm sure it has been frustrating for him not passing the physical training....we will all pray that he is successful this time.
Yes it must be frustrating when folks don't appreciate or understand why our young men and women choose to enter the military...I think a lot of that stems from either fear or naivety. Whatever, our friends at FR truly respect and honor them.

I should visit this thread more often. I think we all tend to get stuck in our little "ruts" and only go to certain threads every day.............and I think we (I, anyway) miss out on an awful lot of good stuff that way.......
