Then no one would hunt...
and then there would be no need for "sporting" guns..
Then no one would mind if they were banned...

You should never forget that there are an unusually large number of Eurinal bureaucrats. ALL make money by establishing extreme rules and regulations and then accepting bribes to circumvent them. Here, they'll make big Euros by administratively declaring all the game in a geographic area for which a fee has been paid as "fit" and another bundle for post hunt exceptions.

No Eurinal gets rich without bureaucratic rulings.

Hunters say the first requirement is pretty much impossible; it is wild game, after all. And the second would be prohibitively expensive and time-consuming.

Sounds like the perfect scenario for government parasites to meddle in. Especially EUnichs.

I know what will happen in the mountains of Greece. They will ignore the rule. The first ones to ignore the rule will be the police who go hunting themselves.

This is not about protection, this is just about creating enough bureaucratic rules to stop hunters.

It is a concept that works, thats to all the bureaucratic rules, the EU has successfully chased away any economic recovery.

"The European Union Parliament will reportedly take up a bill that will require wild game to be certified as fit and healthy before it is shot."

And what will the Europeans do? Will they hunt down every wild animal in Europe and tag it to ensure that it can be safely shot by a hunter later?

Only a complete idiot with devise a "plan" like this.

The European Union Parliament will reportedly take up a bill that will require wild game to be certified as fit and healthy before it is shot.

The purpose of predation is to remove the unfit and unhealthy animals from the population.

Hunting is just human predation.

This doesn't sound right. We don't have enough information. I lived in Germany for several years and went hunting several times. Every year the owner of the winery where I worked had a big organized hunt where dozens of people killed piles of pheasants, rabbits and hares. The animals would all be lined up and counted by a constable. If not enough were killed, the winery owner could have been held liable for crop damage on the land we hunted on. Over there at the time they auctioned off hunting rights on land every few years and the person who won the auction was required to hunt on the land and kill a certain number of animals to control crop damage. Most of the land we hunted on was vineyards. I believe the animals were sold to hunting lodges where they serve wild game to customers. Since it is often being sold to the public, I could see the need for some inspections, although I can't imagine how the animals could be certified as healthy before they are shot. It also seems hard to believe though that they would no longer use hunting as a means for managing crop damage caused be wild animals. Something just doesn't sound right with this story.

Yes! Now it all makes sense. I saw a whitetail deer on a treadmill the other day slurping down a low carb beverage.(white tail are known to be quite lean) And then there was some guy in blaze orange taking it's blood pressure.
