Next year's Superbowl will be held here in Jacksonville, FL. We are a very big small town, much more conservative than Houston.
Last night, representatives from Jacksonville were on hand in Houston to see what works and what doesn't in a host city.
Jacksonville's most famous musicans are "Lynyrd Skynyrd" who are mostly dead.
In the spirit of learning from someone else's ghastly mistake, please offer Freeper suggestions for the kind of entertainment that will increase enjoyment of the game.

SuperBowl 19 {???} The USAF "Tops in Blue" did halftime at Stanford Stadium, I was one of the extras in uniform carrying a flag. Even got a half-second cameo on national TV. . .
Let's do it again, let the Armed Forces do the Superbowl Halftime shows. . .

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have a house near Jax...there is a big billboard of her advertising a radio station near the junction of I-10 and I-95.

I thought Beyonce and the Groban kid both did a good job. The half time show gets too glitzy for my tastes. Just put somebody up there who can sing, and let them sing!

Great quote. Thanks for sharing:

Absolutely. Lynyrd Skynyrd still performs, don't they?
I would suggest Toby Keith, Mary Chapen Carpenter, James Taylor, perhaps Guns 'N Roses singing "One in a million."
Just no MTV people, no Jacksons, no one involved with child porn.

Let's do it again, let the Armed Forces do the Superbowl Halftime shows. We could always hold Saddam Hussein's execution at halftime at the '05 Superbowl. Maybe have a double-header with Osama if they catch him.

Actually the Lynyrd Skynyrd band is still touring. I saw a concert that was filmed in high definition last summer that is showing on InDemand HD TV. They sounded great (and the high def looked awesome). They weren't like quite a few bands that sound horrible live and only sound ok after huge amounts of studio remixing.

I still remember the Indy 500 the year they had the WWII airplanes, the B-2 bomber and all the Congressional Medla of Honor winners.

Alltel is not a domed stadium. If the weather is fine, we may see something like this...
Unfortunatelt, today we are in the middle of three days of rain...unusual weather for Jax.

Would it take an act of Congress to re-schedule President George W. Bush's Second Inaugeral to correspond with Superbowl Sunday?

I think they should get rid of the halftime show. They've always sucked, they always will suck, it's always been the worst part of the Superbowl (even when the game was a snorer the halftime was always worse),just get rid of it.
