CBS Apologizes for Jackson's Exposure

NEW YORK (AP) - CBS apologized on Sunday for an unexpectedly R-rated end to its Super Bowl halftime show, when singer Justin Timberlake tore off part of Janet Jackson's top, exposing her breast.

``CBS deeply regrets the incident,'' spokeswoman Leslie Anne Wade said after the network received several calls about the show.

The two singers were performing a flirtatious duet to end the halftime show, and at the song's finish, Timberlake reached across Jackson's leather gladiator outfit and pulled off the covering to her right breast.

The network quickly cut away from the shot, and did not mention the incident on the air.

It was unclear whether Timberlake intended to expose Jackson's breast.

Wade said CBS officials attended rehearsals of the halftime show all week, ``and there was no indication any such thing would happen. The moment did not conform to CBS' broadcast standards and we would like to apologize to anyone who was offended.''

The Super Bowl halftime show, which also featured Puff Daddy, Nelly and Kid Rock, was produced by MTV, CBS' corporate cousin in Viacom.

``We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced halftime show,'' Joe Browne, NFL executive vice president, said. ``They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the content of the show.

``It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime.''

BS!

She had a "tassle" over her nipple, that was planned.

At least the NFL came out and send that MTV will NEVER produce another Superbowl halftime. Let's hold them to that.

They said it was "unlikely" that MTV would produce another halftime show. There's wiggle room there, sorry to say.

Stop talking about it, stop writing about, stop commenting about it...

The more press this gets, the more Janet Jackson and MTV get exactly what they were aiming for in the first place.

Sheesh.

She's got four threads running now and it just happened at half time.

Gotta love the immediacy of the Internet.

"It was unclear whether Timberlake intended to expose Jackson's breast."

Also, it was unclear why shy Janet Jackson was wearing a cheap pasty, in the event Timberlake might to decideto expose said saggy orb.

Janet cant bare her breast but it's ok for the Black guy to play with his Dick for five minutes.

You wonder what the problem is with our children, educate them on MTV and what you see is what you get.

I have often wondered why Teachers, Democratic Candidates, NOW, Black leaders, Jessie Jackson, Harry Belafonte, etc. condone this crap.

This is bs. The emails and phone calls made them change their story. According to Drudge the CBS brass approved this stunt. If heads don't role at CBS ....

They are both owned by VIACOM.

It's like a rapist pointing with his right hand toward his left and scolding it for doing a bad thing.

That's the truth. What is the name of the watchdog agency that's supposed to fine broadcasters? They should take away CBS's license.

cbs can take their "apology" and stuff it where the sun won't shine.

I'm writing a letter to the Commissioner of the National Football League, Mr. Paul Tagliabu and letting him know just what I think about this garbage that is supposed to pass for half-time entertainment.

cbs should stick to what they know best, Bush Bashing and soaps.

Stop talking about it, stop writing about, stop commenting about it...

If a boob falls in the forest and there's no one commenting on it, does it make a sound?

Wade said CBS officials attended rehearsals of the halftime show all week,

Then they are lying.

The entire show was a soft porn production from start to finish.

So, let me see if I understand this right. CBS refused to air a Moveon.org commercial during the Super Bowl because they claimed they don't run "convroversy ads," and yet they do this during the Super Bowl?

What's up with that?

Like I said on another thread: the streaker gets hauled off by the cops while another set of cops escort Janet to her limo. In court the streaker should claim it was all part of the show.

Totally agree. I was wondering if there was anything to "play with for 5 minutes". The super bowl (small case letters) is becoming an extension of what we don't want our kids to become....
