Statement by NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne regarding the Super Bowl halftime show:

"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

What did those idiots expect from MTV

That's not only the first question I had, but the only question that's important.

I don't think so. If my wife doesn't wear her top on the beach, she's doing this for sexual entertainment? Yeah right...

Just like when I take my top off- it's for sexual entertainment. OK.
Your wife takes her top off for purposes of not getting lines. Please do tell what Janet was doing in this environment? Could it be to shock? If so then that would blow your argument. It was for shock which means it was not being used for its natural useful purpose of pumping out milk. So you are wrong. Again...Do you have kids?

OMG! Funny thing is I was watching the game, but I guess I missed that little incident. Yikes. I didn't care much about their act in the first place.

The whole MTV halftime show was dreck. No wonder the Islamic militants call us the "Great Satan."

No disagreemnet here, but they'd still think we were the Great Satan even if the Mormon Tabernacle Choir had performed.

Somehow I think that no reaction would have been better than this prudery and overreaction.

But the important question is: what d'ya expect? If he hadn't done it would everything have been okie dokie? You reward, worship these porno no talents, brand everyone who doesn't as "RACIST!", and then you're surprised, people? In the 1950s the America's family were the Nelsons, in the Zeroes (and since the 70s) it seems to be the Jacksons. Helloooooo!

Good point. It seems that the ads were toned down; perhaps not to offend (always best not to anger customers) while the entertainment side of CBS went out of their way to offend. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I thought Beyonce's rendition of the National Anthem was deplorable.

Are you nuts? She performed beautifully.

Whats actually worse are ignorant smart-a$$es who apparently came of age during the house o'cards clinton roaring nineties and don't know any better because its all they know.

OK.

Who cares about a freakin' Boob! First, getting all upset about it and talking about it is exactly what they want. Second, basically all paintings from the Renaissance had naked boobs in them, often with milk spurting out at little cherubs, or with the boob's owner squeezing it. We need to just get over it - lot's of us have boobs, so it's just silly.

I agree totally. CBS should be concerned not because I was particularly offended, but rather because I failed to find much entertainment in their presentation.

I guess they were just pandering to a different subculture in this "glorious" multicultural world we've made for ourselves(?)

No, my wife takes her top off for the same reason I do.

Yes I have a son.

"It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

Somewhere, the agent for "Up With People" is trying desperately to call Mr. Tagliabue.

I just am amazed that anyone would have started with the premise that it WOULD be family entertainment. TV in general is a cesspool. I do think it was a poor choice and shouldn't have happened, but MAN, everyone is a freaking prude.

Spare me your sanctimony about how every else is "a freaking prude" for not wanting to see Janet Jackson's naked breast. This was the Super Bowl -- A SPORTING EVENT! It is not supposed to be Girls Gone Wild -- the Super Bowl is supposed to be something you can watch with your family. The halftime entertainment is supposed to be music, not a strip show. Maybe you were titillated by it, but the rest of us were appalled.

You may be too young to understand this, but we used to have lines in this country that everyone understood were not to be crossed. Well, we've crossed them and now there's no going back until society decides that it's had its fill of living outside of God's laws.

Your sarcastic and shallow prattle about the female breast and breast milk is too silly to be addressed. You want to know what's really going on in the world today? Do you have the intellectual fortitude to read Augustine's work, 'The City of God'? I doubt it, but if you do it will challenge the world view you currently embrace.

I saw that stupid halftime show. I was watching it with my grandparents. They use closed-captioning (sp?) on the TV, so you can see the lyrics as they were sung. If I saw correctly, some of the Kid Rock lyrics were skipped by the typist. I don't know if he just couldn't keep up or if he just didn't like them.

Yep, these people are over the top. It's like they sit around waiting to be offended, as much as any PC-addled leftist. It's embarassing.

There is serious overreaction on this thread - it is not about sanctimony - it is about making a bigger deal about this than it warrants, given how much is already shown on TV. By the way, Richard Hatch is now naked on my TV, and I don't like that either.

The NFL is as corrupt as MTV in my book.

I wonder if anyone besides me speculated that the referees were on the Patriots' payroll...
