http://www.komotv.com/stories/29577.htm Political Stunner: Jennifer Dunn To Retire
January 31, 2004
By KOMO Staff & News Services
OLYMPIA - Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn, Washington state's senior Republican in Congress and a favorite of the Bush White House, stirred up Washington's political scene Friday night by announcing she's retiring from politics.
The 61-year-old Dunn had been courted by President Bush to run for the U.S. Senate this fall. But she tells The Associated Press that she has decided to serve out her sixth House term and then retire from public life.
She says her decision was prompted by family considerations -- she's newly remarried -- and a desire for one more career after politics.
To: djf
She is a good republican force in the house. It will not be good to lose her.
I can only hope that she would be planning then to run for the Senate-- Murray's seat perhaps?

Dang. I guess not.
This is a sad loss. We need somebody to fill her shoes, and I don't know if that person is around just now. We'll see.

ACU Ratings for Representative DUNN: |
Year 2003 |
71 |
Year 2002 |

Lifetime |
88 |
She has a reasonably conservative record, but seems to have fallen off in 2003. |

She was pro-abort, wasn't she?
What does it take to get a LOW rating?

It would be interesting to know how the ACU scores things now that domestically we have no major conservative party.

Pro-choice, not pro abort.
I remember the days before. I remember reading stories in the papers, almost weekly, about some woman being found dead in an alley, bled to death, because some idiot had perforated her uterus with a coat hanger.
I am not pro abortion. But I find it fantastically paradoxical that a party that tries to pride itself on letting people be responsible for themselves, and keeping their noses out of our business, says "Yeah, except for some gal's womb"
