To think that most FReepers can agree with Rat's statements is somewhat encouraging. However, hope for consensus is out of reach.

To be fair to Clinton, he has stood by Bush's decision to go to war (he hasn't made a bunch of [expletive] remarks about how Bush failed to find WMD)--unlike some of the other people who were "tough" on Saddam when that meant not going to war.

These quotes can not be repeated enough, b/c you won't ever see them reported by the liberal media.

Good grief, Clinton did everything he could to undermine this President and his handling of our response to 9/11. the ONLY reason why Clinton never condemned this President for attacking Saddam is because he is smarter than that Botox intoxicated loser John Kerry. Clinton knows everyone remembers his public statements and his half measures of launching hundreds of Cruise Missiles around the globe when ever he needed to divert attention from what ever corrupt campaign fund raising scandals he was involved in, or his countless unsavory liaison's he had with the assorted interns and Bimbo's in the Oval Office.
Bill Clinton has been trying to excuse his lack of response to the many attacks we suffered under his watch by saying that he would have done just as George W. Bush has if 9/11 happened on his watch, as he tries to tell us that Osama bin Laden was on his mind every day, and he did everything he could to bring him to justice.
Clinton's style of leading was to Poll the American people on where they wanted go, so he could lead them. WJC is a fraud

I'm not talking about his failures during the presidency, just about this one thing: how did Bill Clinton, in the aftermath of 9/11, attempt to undermine George Bush or the War on Terror?

Have you forgotten Bill Clinton's trip to Europe when we were trying to get the U.N. on board. He met privately with Chirac, and Tony Blair and gave a speech that questioned Bush's motives. He also told the Press that he told president Bush on January 20th, 2001 that the biggest threat we faced was Osama bin Laden and terrorism. That never happened. How the hell would Clinton know what dangers we faced from Global Terrorism?, he only met with George Tenet 2 times the whole time he was POTUS, and very few times with FBI Director Louis Freeh (Sp?)
For Clinton to say he made every effort to capture Osama bin Laden is a bald face lie. 9/11 happened because of Bill Clinton and any support he might have attempted to show towards George W. Bush was for his own persaonal gain as well as his desperate attempt to spin his own legacy.

He never said anything of the sorts, how could he?, he hadn't been briefed by George Tenet for 2 years.
All Clinton ever did was to look over the daily threat assessment from the NIA that was compiled from the reports from the CIA, FBI and the DIA and the State Departments Intel gathering agency. He never called a meeting with George Tenet or Louis Freeh(sp?) to discuss a single daily threat assessment in his last 2 years in office.
