Does John Kerry have blood on his hands? Perhaps the following, extracted from the Introduction (written by Jamie Glazov) of David Horowitzs book Left Illusions An Intellectual Odyssey, will help you assess this question.
"After the communist victory in Vietnam in 1975, the North Vietnamese began executing tens of thousands of South Vietnamese and setting up re-education camps. The general repression prompted an exodus of two million refugees, unprecedented in the history of Vietnam. Hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese boat people perished in the Gulf of Thailand and in the South China Sea in their attempt to escape the communist new order that the efforts of the New Left had helped to bring about. In Cambodia, the victory of the communists led to the slaughter of some three million Cambodian peasants. More peasants were killed in Indochina in the first three years of communist rule than had been killed on both sides during the thirteen years of the anti-communist war. Horowitz later reflected on the cause of these events:"
"Every testimony by North Vietnamese generals in the postwar years has affirmed that they knew they could not defeat the United States on the battlefield, and that they counted on the division of our people at home to win the war for them. The Vietcong forces we were fighting in South Vietnam were destroyed in 1968. In other words, most of the war and most of the casualties in the war occurred because the dictatorship of North Vietnam counted on the fact Americans would give up the battle rather than pay the price necessary to win it. This is what happened. The blood of hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese, and tens of thousands of Americans, is on the hands of the anti-war activists who prolonged the struggle and gave victory to the Communists."
And it's about damn time someone started re-visting the history of what what happened there when we left.
Wrong. The guilty are Walt Rostow, Robert McNamara and Robert Kennedy who advised JFK to get us into a war that the military opposed.
They knew less about how to use our military than Clinton.
Wrong.
By the time the millions died in So. East Asia, those folks had been out of power for years.
The blood is on the hands of the anti-war, pro communist folks like Kerry, who convinced Hanoi they could invade So. Vietnam with no consequences.
All that should have been required to stop the killing purpetrated by No. Vietnam was to threaten to send the B-52's back like they flew in Dec. 72, that pursuaded them to sign the peace agreement in the first place.
Or even actually send them, if required.
But folks like Kerry wouldn't even let us re-supply So. Vietnam, which was allowed under the peace treaty, while No. Vietnam broke that same treaty.
Kerry and his ilk have blood on their hands. And I think the genuine history of what happened in So. East Asia will soon be re-told.
It's about damn time.
I lived on SAC bases during most of the war. No one opposed that war more than the B-52 crews. They thought that they were risking their lives for no valid purpose. Their bombs were not effective in that type war.
You probably think that we can solve the terrorist problem with B-52s also. You're still fighting WWII.
Buffs did the majority of the work in Afghanistan.
And you need to read the history of Linebacker II. It only took 12 days, and it ended the US involvement in Vietnam. Had we threatened Linebacker III, millions of people would still be alive to day. But the John Kerry types prevented it.
When you were living on the SAC base, I'm sure they thought what they were doing was a waste. Because it was. They were mostly bombing empty forests in So. Vietnam. Stupid.
But when they finally, for only 12 days, did real bombing. It worked. Hanoi signed on the line almost immediatly.
So, stop trying to refight Vietnam 65 to Nov. 72 and study up on the real history of the war.
You might look into the affects of Clinton's "bombing from 15k feet" in Bosnia. I don't think we had many troops on the ground there.
That's low. That's really, really low.
Three purple hearts and a silver star in one tour? Wow. He sure was busy. I'm glad he wasn't toooo hurt to get that f_ing purple heart so he could move on to the next. If the story about his silver star is true...then Kerry is a f_ing joke IMHO. What kind of officer leaves his men in the field? As a former enlisted soldier I can tell you what kind he is....but I think I'll just let these posts speak for me.
From a previous thread:
He did not finish his tour of duty and used a loophole to leave - not very honorable. His behavior after his service cannot be severed from his time in Vietnam. Kerry is a disgrace - it appears that his service was not for his country or the defeat of communism, but for his political future - the same reason he is running for president.

Here's another:
I was in the same exact AO at the same time Kerry was ...and was in a Army platoon that used navy PBRs and Swift boats (during the rainy season) to ferry us into ambush patrol sites....we would patrol and set up night APs for three to four days...and then get extracted by boat during the rainy season and helo during the dry...
If Kerry got a Silver Star for merely hopping off the boat after his gunner prepped the area and killed and/or ran off the only VC and retrieved a launcher and a spare rocket...then something was VERY WRONG with the way the navy awarded medals to junior officers....in that unit - imo
Enlisted soldiers that recieved such high awards in our unit ...were often severely wounded or KIA as a result...regardless- actions that resulted in such high awards WERE ALWAYS directly against INTENSE enemy fire...
A couple of guys in my unit recieved silver stars and one a medal of honor...I can assure you the things they did to get such awards were way way beyond...the call of normal combat duty...
which in itself is harrowing...(even if you are just doing your job)....
Medals in Vietnam were given to those who deserved it- to those who didnt- and many guys who deserved medals didnt get them... imo
