"First espoused by Dr. Robert Atkins in the early 1970s..."
Well, not exactly, Atkins cites research on diabetes going back, I think, to maybe the thirties or fourties, and I remember listening to Dr. Carlton Frederics on the radio,
who warned of the dangers of Carbs/hypoglycemia to general health and well-being. He passed away in the early eighties and Atkins moved to the forefront

I have lost 80lbs low carbing it since May!!!!
I eat a variety of veggies and some oatmeal and low fat meats mostly. I do like my pork steaks on the grill...had them late last night!!!
I feel sooo much better and the reflux is gone!!!
Was in at least 42" pants now 36"!!!!!!

Low carb does not mean no-carb because vegetables (most of them) are very low carb. There are high fat low carb diets and low fat low carb diets. I'll never stop eating salads OR even stop eating things like paw-paw, figs, etc. There are a lot of lazy peope in the world, and also greedy people who like the fast weight loss of low carb and don't have to exercise.

the food pyramid, was more akin to a grave marker than a monument to healthcare. Great line Carlo. It would make a fine tagline...

I don't see how it is possible for the government to spend any more than they already do on agri-business. Every bit of every food you eat has been paid for in part by Uncle Sucker. Then again, I voted for Bush to reduce the size of government, so what do I know? :-)
How long before these companies start asking for Government intervention/bailouts...like the Airline Industry has already done.

Just watch out for CarboLite stuff. They claim no carbs, and they taste GREAT, but later, you'd swear it was ex-lax. Thanks for the tip - I'll look for these.
Try the DeLite products (green packages).

How long before these companies start asking for Government intervention/bailouts... Well, if you're going to do it right, you should bail out these companies, run Public Service Announcements warning about obesity, and then promote the obesity-inducing, high carb "food pyramid."

Gorging on Fats(no-carbs) is just as bad as gorging on Carbs(low-fat). According to the Heart Association, obesity is the greatest single risk factor for heart disease. After doing Atkins for a year, eating lots of cream, eggs and meat, my cholesterol has gone from 200ldl/50hdl to 150ldl/75hdl. And I've lost 10 lbs. too. I'm in the "fit" range for percentage body fat.

We can't find those items in our grocery store so we have to make the trip to Whole Foods. Maybe there's one near you (or another health food store).
