I just sat down at my computer and was shocked to read this freepmail.

Hey, this is Annette. Charlie is in the hospital, he went to ER at 2:00 am with pains in his arm. After lots of test we know this: his main artery is completely blocked, they are doing a bypass in the morning. He has been in alot of pain all day and loads of tests. Please pray for him. You can share this with those you think appropriate. I am not really with it right now. I wanted to let you know, he speaks very fondly of you. He is at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville. We are all praying for him. Please keep in in mind, we are in shock. I will update you when I can.

This has come like a bolt out of the blue. Charlie has become one of my closest friends on Free Republic, and all I can do is hope for the best and send out lots of prayers. I'll try to find out more info about his scheduled bypass surgery and report back with updates. Maybe we can have some kind of a prayer vigil during that time.

Bypasses aren't so out of the ordinary. His chances are probably very good, especially if his spirits are high.

Annette: please let him know we've appreciated him very much and we want him back ASAP for his perspective and humor.

Oh Geeez. This is really a body slam. Why him? He's one of the good guys, a rare soul. I hope he's fixed up and back to speed ASAP, but tonight I'm worried sick.

Yep. We can't afford to have quality troops like him out of the fight. So I guess we need to pray for not only a full recovery, but a speedy one.
