How does your ACTIVE SERVICE stack up against Keyes'? You moderates like to TALK about 'changing hearts and minds', but you never really do it. Dr. Alan Keyes does.EV, you really have no clue what I do or have done, but this isn't about me.
I'd really like to see Dr. Keyes run for an office he could win, and try to make a difference in our government. Enough people who believe as he do could actually shrink the size of the Federal goverment.
I don't think it's going to happen, though. First, I'm not sure the American people want to roll back all the Federal programs we have now, and I'm not sure they'd elect someone who believes as Dr. Keyes does.
Secondly, I don't think Dr. Keyes really wants to be elected to government. If he were, he'd have to compromise to get anything done, and that would destroy him in the eyes of people like you.
Not to mention, he's making a pretty fine living right now off donations from True Believers.

If Judge Moore were Buddhist, would you support his right to put a statue of Buddha in the lobby of the Federal courthouse? No. He was an Alabama State judge. He had no authority to place decorations in any Federal Courthouse.

...his offical action violated the 1st by favoring one religion over others...There was no favouring, ol' buddy. Your legal code's based on the Ten Commandments, and a monument to them's more than appropriate in any courthouse.

It's just as possible that, after what the GOP machine did to Buchanan and McClintock, his wife begged him not to run.

Our own founding documents, and the constitution of the state of Alabama, do no more, nor less than the monument in question.
Liberal historical revisionists have been working for well over a generation in their zeal to strip American government of every possible reference to the Judeo-Christian beliefs of our founders.
They have succeeded mightily in our nation's capital...except in those places where they haven't garnered enough power (yet)to chisel said references out of the marble and the granite that still proclaims Nature's God everywhere in that city.
They have now set their sights on stripping Christianity from the state capitols as well.
It is sad that you, and other FReepers, find common cause with those who would undermine the foundations of this great Republic.

The truth is this: Alan declared his support for the reelection of the President well over a year ago, as did I.
He is, and always been, a loyal Republican.

Excellent speech!
If only we had more like him.

Well, I'm sure he argued that, but he lost that case. I'm sure that somewhere out there on the internet you can find the court's specific findings of fact on these issues. Been there, read that. In its entirety.
That's another problem that Judge Moore ran into and that's why the State of Alabama decided to pull him in the late innings.
And if the court upheld local laws requiring the gassing of jews that would be that. /sarcasm The State of Alabama didn't have to remove him the monument was already gone by order of the Federal Court. The asked one question as its basis to remove him. "Will you insist on acknowledging God?" He said "yes." Nothing about putting up another monument or plaque. Many judges acknowledge God with an opening prayer as did the court that removed him. They put him to a religious test to keep his job. He was elected by a majority vote of the people of Alabama who knew him well as the Ten Commandments Judge. Their will was subverted along with his rights.

Secondly, I don't think Dr. Keyes really wants to be elected to government. Your comments are offensive, as well as being utterly wrong. He happens to have roots going back generations in a state that is still very liberal. That he couldn't break that grip by running for the Senate twice is, or shouldn't be, a detriment to his reputation as a statesman with any fairminded thinking person.
Your attempt to make something dirty out of fundraising for the furtherance of the things he believes in is hypocritical as well. Do you hold the President to the same stupid standard? How about every other individual in government or the political arena? What balderdash.

Right. Looks like he's back on FR.
Now I know how the passengers feel, when a Palestinian boards a Tel Aviv bus.

Only if America was Tibet. Great answer! I've often admired your ability to cut through the crapola.

Its sad that you see making a judge comply with our constitution as "undermining the republic".Would you have said the same of a judge who refused to order the return of a slave from Vermont to Georgia?

Its sad that you see making a judge comply with our constitution as "undermining the republic".They violated the Constitution of the United States, and of the state of Alabama, with their lawless orders.
How does it feel to make common cause with the ACLU and the Southern Poverty Law Center communists?
