Michael Savage N.Y. Times ad assails Bush
World Net Daily ^ | Tuesday, January 27, 2004

After calling for the impeachment of President Bush over plans to legalize millions of illegal aliens, talk-radio star Michael Savage has taken out a full-page ad in the New York Times declaring millions of Americans support his view.

The ad features his new best-selling book, "The Enemy Within," published by WND Books, which contends America's biggest enemy is not al-Qaida, but "internal enemies" that threaten the nation's long-term survival.

Since Sunday, about 10,000 people have requested a copy of the ad for their own use.

"They are going to be posting them all across America," Savage told WorldNetDaily. "It's going to be a grass-roots revolution."

During his Jan. 12 broadcast, Savage, who supports the president on many issues, called Bush a liberal and described him as part of the "enemy within" that is destroying the nation.

"This is the worst betrayal of our country in my lifetime," said Savage, whose program is heard on more than 350 stations with an audience reaching some 6 million.

His previous book, "The Savage Nation," last year was No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller's list for five weeks.

"This is much more serious than dropping your pants for an intern," said Savage. "This is a policy that represents a danger to national security."

Bush has proposed sweeping immigration changes that would allow the 8 million to 12 million illegal aliens thought to be in the United States to remain in the country if they have a job and apply for a guest-worker card. The immigrants could stay for renewable three-year periods, after which they could apply for permanent legal residence.

Savage is hardly alone in his strong feelings of opposition to Bush's proposal to offer legal status to illegal immigrants. An ABC News poll finds 52 percent of the nation opposes an amnesty program for illegal immigrants from Mexico, while 57 percent oppose one for illegal immigrants from other countries. Both results are roughly the same as when the administration floated the idea two-and-a-half years ago.

During his recent trip to Monterrey, Mexico, Bush reaffirmed his support of the proposal, despite its unpopularity at home. He said it could help illegal immigrants "leave the shadows and have an identity."

At a joint press conference with Mexican President Vicente Fox, Bush warned that his government will not allow the existence in the United States of an underclass of illegal immigrants, but claimed again his proposal is not an amnesty. Amnesty, he said, would only promote the violation of the law and perpetuate illegal immigration.

Bush said his immigration proposal would benefit both the United States and Mexico as it recognizes the contribution of thousands of honest Mexicans who work in the United States.

For his part, Fox embraced Bush's proposal.

"What else can we wish?" Fox said at the news conference with the president.

In the U.S., a recent poll on the controversy shows at least twice as many Americans "strongly" oppose the proposal as strongly support it.

Opposition peaks in Bush's own party: Fifty-eight percent of Republicans oppose his immigration proposal for Mexicans, compared with 50 percent of Democrats. For illegal immigrants other than Mexicans, 63 percent of Republicans are opposed.

Meanwhile, the National Border Patrol Council, which represents all 9,000 of the Border Patrol's non-supervisory agents, has told its members to challenge President Bush's proposed guest-worker program, calling it a "slap in the face to anyone who has ever tried to enforce the immigration laws of the United States," the Washington Times reported.

Savage cited a new report published in the City Journal by the Manhattan Institute suggesting there is a major crime wave in the U.S. caused by illegal immigration.

"Some of the most violent criminals at large today are illegal aliens," the report charges. "Yet in cities where the crime these aliens commit is highest, the police cannot use the most obvious tool to apprehend them: their immigration status. In Los Angeles, for example, dozens of members of a ruthless Salvadoran prison gang have sneaked back into town after having been deported for such crimes as murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and drug trafficking. Police officers know who they are and know that their mere presence in the country is a felony. Yet should a cop arrest an illegal gang-banger for felonious reentry, it is he who will be treated as a criminal, for violating the LAPD’s rule against enforcing immigration law."

The situation is similar, the report says in New York, Chicago, San Diego, Austin and Houston. These "sanctuary policies" generally prohibit city employees, including the cops, from reporting immigration violations to federal authorities, says the report.

"These people are destroying America," said Savage. "That's all I have to say on the subject. But you can talk about it. Talk about it while you can – while America is still a free country, because it's not going to last."

A president cannot be impeached over a proposal.

Besides, Savage is a manic-depressive.

Illegal alien amnesty is going to happen with or without Bush? Why? It does not have to happen. The borders can be protected and the law enforced and that is what the President should do. If a Democratic President tried this, imagine the reaction here. Yet Bush gets a free pass because he wears an R instead of a D.

"I feel so sorry for the parents whose children are being used for cannon fodder in Iraq!"

He said that? What context?

He was pre-empted by hockey here in Detroit. I have to miss Savage finally going insane because of puck-heads.

"[Illegal alien amnesty] ... is going to happen with or without Bush. You obviously prefer the Democrat version. "

So I suggest you just be a good little sheepy, take a deep sigh and bend right over, along with your nation, who is going to get absolutely reemed by these anti-Sovereignty, anti-U.S.Constitutional and yes, blatantly traitorous AMNESTY initiatives.

Some of you Bush-Bots are every bit as blind and disgustingly weak as those ignorant Klinton-Bots ... you're just R-bots instead of D-bots. No difference ... both incapable of thinking for themselves.

Forgive me, but I'm just one of those old fashioned guys who place allegiance to God and Country, before allegiance to any political party.

And when the guy I voted for is WRONG, as in rewarding ILLEGALS & LAWBREAKERS, I'm not too wimpy or brainwashed to stand up and say so.

Hmm. Idle thoughts. If I was President and wanted to build wide national support for truly draconian measures to control our borders, how would I go about it? Hmm.

Don't take take you immature frustration out on me, fool. It's not about Bush-bots or anti-Bush-Butts like you. It's about paying a heavy price for generations of open borders. Got it, crybaby?

Illegal alien amnesty is going to happen with or without Bush?

It's happened before, and will likely happen agian....more than once.

Why?

Because it doesn't look like any D or R or any other party are going to hunt down immigrants house by house, city by city, and state by state to deport them.

It does not have to happen.

Any attempts at mass deportation will be opposed by countless US citizens: the bleeding heart liberals, church groups, political and social activists, the Leftist academia/courts/civil rights lawyers, etc, etc. The process will be bogged down in the courts for a generation because many family members of illegals contain US citizens born here. The lawyers will get rich and the outcome will not makes us happy, IMO.

The borders can be protected and the law enforced and that is what the President should do.

Yes, that's what elected officials at all levels of goverment should do. Fixing the border problem, however, does not address the problem of illegals that are already here. Each has its own set of problems: legal, constitutional, cultural, political, societal, international....

If a Democratic President tried this, imagine the reaction here.

The Democrat candidates say that Bush's plan doesn't go far enough and there is a good chance that one of those Dems will be elected this year and implement a worse plan.

Yet Bush gets a free pass because he wears an R instead of a D.

Bush might be dumped and we'll definitely get another worse president like we did when his father was dumped.

Since Reagan's amnesty program we had 4 years of President Bush (no action on illegals) and 8 years of Criminal Clinton (no action on illegals). All of a sudden (with a number hyped like Mitch Snyder's homeless), President Bush is vilified for doing SOMETHING?

I listened to Savage last night talking about suing a guy who was quoting His book and not giving credit to him...Looked to me like Savage was starting to melt down. Don't get me wrong, I like Savage, but in the last few weeks he's started to go south.

Why should we help ILLEGALS to have an identity. They are criminals!!!

"Impeach", NO that would be beyond stupid. Certainly we need to make enough noise to be heard by Prez Bush in the hope that he realizes he is pissing off more voters than he is gaining from the illegals.

"I feel so sorry for the parents whose children are being used for cannon fodder in Iraq!"

He said that? What context?

Yes, those were his exact words! I was stunned (and thoroughly disgusted). His context was that he was bashing the hell out of President Bush. Then, he threw out this line from left feild. From there, he said that he thought we were right to go into Iraq, but that we should have left as soon as we occupied Baghdad. He said, "What are we still doing there? Does anyone know? If anyone knows why we're still in Iraq, call and tell me." My local affiliate cut to sports right after that, so I didn't hear if anyone called and held him accountable for this outrageous comment.

How could any American, or any human being of minimal compassion for that matter, tell the American people that their sons and daughters are cannon fodder? My God, not even Hillary has gone that far!

The answer to this INVASION of MILLIONS of ILLEGALS into our nation poses an incredible problem for us, but does not require going door to door.

All Bush has to do is exhibit the POLITICAL WILL to solve the problem. All Bush has to do is ENFORCE laws already on the books which fine any CEO up to $10K for any single Illegal Alien found working for his company.

If/when the undercut wages and FREE HANDOUTS the ILLEGALS get dry up, the Illegals will have no choice but to JUST GO AWAY. This removes their wives, OUT of our WIC/Food Stamp and assorted welfare programs ad infinitum ... it removes their kids OUT of our already over-stressed school systems ... it removes their grandma's & grandpa's along with the rest of their extended family who followed them up here to the to the Land-of-the-Rich-Gringo ,that they hate ... it removes them OUT of our bankrupted Hospital Emergency Rooms and Health care programs ... all of which are funded by U.S.Taxpayers.

These programs and benefits are intended for our deserving citizens and our poorest citizens, not everyone in the world that can figure a way to break into our country.

Here's how a government that really cares about their own citizens first, and has a sincere desire to competently address their own Illegal Alien problem is acting:

SYDNEY (AFP) - Australia's Labor opposition promised a tough new crackdown on illegal immigration if it won the upcoming election, with identity cards for foreign workers and a coastguard with specially equipped patrol boats.

Far from relaxing Australia's immigration controls as many of its own supporters had hoped, opposition leader Mark Latham said Labor would increase them to make it even harder for illegal immigrants and asylum seekers to enter the country.

"Labor will always put the national interest first and that means keeping our labour market free of organized rackets that rely on illegal and exploited workers," he said in a statement.

"We must protect job opportunities for Australian residents first and foremost."

Immigration is shaping as a key issue in the election due by the end of this year, as it was in the 2001 poll in which Prime Minister John Howard won a third term on the back of a tough government policy introduced that year of turning away asylum seekers arriving by boat and diverting them to offshore holding camps.

As part of Labor's promised crackdown on illegal immigrants, identity cards similar to the US Green Card would be issued to non-residents with working visas.

Employers who hired illegal workers would face up to 12 months in jail, while companies would face fines up to 137,500 dollars (106,000 US).

Special tax file numbers would also be issued to foreign workers which would alert the government to those overstaying their visas or trying to work illegally.

A government strike force would conduct spot checks and monitor industries at high risk of employing illegal workers.

Latham said Howard had failed to tackle the problem of illegal workers in Australia, where there were estimated to be more than 60,000 illegal immigrants, up to half working illegally.

"If Mr. Howard reckons he has it right on border protection, why has he failed to target and eliminate these 30,000 illegal migrant workers?" he asked.

A Labor government would also double the number of coastguard volunteers and give them a key role in detecting smugglers, he said.

"We think it's absolutely vital for a nation with 37,000 kilometres (23,000 miles) of coastline to have a coastguard to guard us against the people smugglers, the drug smugglers the gun runners and the like."

Under the Labor plan, three 80-metre (264-foot), helicopter-carrying coastguard vessels would be based in the northern ports of Cairns, Darwin and Broome.

Volunteer coastguards would continue their vital rescue role but would also play a smuggler detection role in partnership with fulltime coastguards.

Latham said volunteers would not be expected to intercept, board and inspect suspicious vessels, but they could be "eyes and ears", detecting such vessels and alerting the coastguard.

What's so hard for Bush and the rINO-bots to understand about this straight forward solution? ... I mean that is, if they genuinely want to solve the problem, and put America's citizens FIRST ???

I wonder WHY Bush refuses to stand up for, and protect our American jobs, our communities and our American Culture like the Australian leadership is doing for their citizens.

Any ideas WHY ?

For starters, it is NOT the job of the president, nor the government to " protect " American jobs.

You want a benevolent dictator, NOT a president.

Culture ? Which " culture "....Brittany Spears, P.Diddy Combs, rap, Hollyeood garbage, what's on T.V., " SEX AND THE CITY " ?
