A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

"Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions." ~ Harold S. Geneen, Former Chairman, IT&T
"The problem with political jokes is they get elected." ~ Henry Cate, VII
"Victory goes to the player who makes the next-to-last mistake." Savielly Grigorievitch Tartakower (1887-1956)
"It is possible to store the mind with a million facts and still be entirely uneducated." ~ Alec Bourne
"The most disadvantageous peace is better than the most just war." ~ Deciderius Erasmus (1466?-1536)

"He has the sort of face that makes you realize God does have a sense of humor." ~ Bill Bryson
"Lust of power burns more fiercely than all the passions combined." ~ Irish Blessing
"All God's children are not beautiful. Most of God's children are, in fact, barely presentable." ~ Fran Lebowitz (b. 1951)
Last, but certainly not least, I couldn't decide which quote to use, so I'm leaving it all up to you to decide....or submit your own. (Now, unlike our own Freezie's "contests", this is just for fun; the prize is your own satisfaction for knowing your subjects well. :)
1. "Every one in a crowd has the power to throw dirt; nine out of ten have the inclination." ~ Paul Aubuchon
2. "Do you love me because I'm beautiful, or am I am beautiful because you love me?" ~ Oscar Hammerstein, II
3. "The mistake a lot of politicians make is forgetting they've been appointed and thinking they've been anointed." ~ Claude Pepper

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Now that you mention it, dutchess, I have dodged a whole slew of bullets in my lifetime!
Many, many hurricanes up and down the Eastern seaboard and even remnants inland - the Blizzard of '78 in Tiffin, Ohio, two fronts converging on my bedroom wall at 1 in the a.m.; snowed in for 4 days - the Good Friday Hurricane in Alaska in 1964 - must have some kind of invisible Gardoll shield around me..:))

I get bored with it and put it up for a while, then go back to it, eventually I finish them, as my hubby will atest to. Sometimes one of the processes is hard on my hands, and I then switch to one of the others that is not so hard. The one on my frame is a small lap quilt, a Churn Dash done up in patriotic colors. The one which needs the brown fabric will take me the longest as I've had a hard time locating the brown fabric. No other color will work, and it has to be dark brown with a black pattern on it to look right, I thought I'd find it this last fall since brown is a fall color. But no luck.
I get compulsive about quilting in spurts, but usually always have something for my hands to fiddle with.

It's great you are receiving so many 'Thank Yous' for posting the Daily Bread.
It is short enough to get our attention - and meaningful enough to both inpact and stay with us!
You and yours are carried in the prayers of many, Rus...

I should do something more useful with my hands, but I've always been a reader. That means I'm either reading a book or reading Free Republic. I love to study things I didn't know before. College was really fun to me.

Jack's son was the very last person on the hour long program. Isn't that just the way it goes? He looks good. He adopted a horse that had been seized by the SPCA. Looks like he has a big ranch there. We've never been down to see him. Too far to go.
