Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles (thread 2) Daily Terror Threat

I did attend several of those funerals. And, one of my closest friends narrowly escaped the Pentagon when hit. Of course , I did not know of her saftey when I watched the building burn.

I don't think AQ is joke. I think they are dead serious. Too serious to be playing patty-cake on the web.

Like I said, we need to stay vigilant and smart. Part of being smart is recognizing the silly from the serious.

I get paid to tear apart stories with even subtle flaws, and my job always demands that I ask more questions and dig for logical explanations.

Some of the stuff here is simply nutty. We can probably serve our intelligence and law enforcement officials better by keeping an eye and ear on the ground in the communities we know best, rather than trying to cobble internet postings from unknown sources into a conspiracy.

Well, just as I was starting to think we might be over-reacting to "jihad by the keyboard"..

Maybe I've just read too much Nynquist (sp) and similar stuff, but this scares the bajeebus out of me. The Ruskies have not done anything like this (apparently) since something like 1982. Why NOW?

Theory #1: they know we are going to be hit (hard) and will want to nuke something (Iran, Syria, NK, etc) in response. To deter us, they have their entire nuclear air fleet airborne at the time.

Theory #2: they will be behind the attack, using AQ as a proxy..as such, they know the date and can plan appropriately for the follow-on strike. Problem is, they can't just put their bombers into the air without explanation - that would get the attention of our monitoring capabilities. So, they plan an "exercise", announcing it ahead of time - but it is just warming up the engines for the "real attack" of Act II (see below for more).

I read earlier (darned if I can find it now..maybe on timebomb2000 or the final phase forums somewhere), that Russia had nuclear bombers in the air on 9/11. The poster hypothesized that they were planned all along, and would have kept coming if the attack on Washington, DC occurred as planned. I forget exactly how we were able to threaten them sufficiently to get those bombers to turn tail and head back to Mother Russia.

Those who belittle Russia are very uniformed, IMHO.

Since the beginning of time, countries have warred for control. We've over-extended our international 'welcome' a bit with the Iraq adventure (I believe it was justified, however), and there are quite a few players who are not so pleased with us. They also see our Iraqi occupation as being a HUGH threat to their interests (read: oil, $$$s). So, maybe this is something that will push them over the edge in terms of taking a shot at the US.

While MAD prevented nuclear war previously, the terrorist angle is SUCH a great way around the "traditional" frontal attack approach. If Russia IS behind AQ (I think there is a very good chance that they are), they can easily use AQ as a "first strike" force to create confusion and mass panic, and follow-up with ICBMs while America is coming apart at the seams internally. (Just look what 9/11 did to our psyche..imagine a few suitcase nukes in major cities like DC & NY and the mass chaos that would follow).

I read something that scared me blue a few weeks back..it was on TFP forum..

Supposedly, Nynquist was interviewing that Russian General (Lebed? [sp]) - you know..the guy who "coincidentally" got killed in a "freak accident" after testifying before Congress about the suitcase nukes. Supposedly, Lebed told Nynquist..WHEN there is a nuclear suitcase bomb attack in the US, it will be blamed on "Arab terrorists" - except it will not be them, but the Spetsnaz (sp) - Russian Secret Service. Apparently, [as Lebed tells it], the first strike is planned to take out the satellite uplink stations, so that the US is "blind" and cannot see the Russian ICBM launches with our launch warning systems. (Note that I have no idea how these things work, but the poster also explained that the satlinks are above-ground, as they need line-of-sight with the birds. Hence, they are VERY vunerable to first-strike attack, and there are supposedly only a handful of them).

Maybe it's a coincidence, but the recent EOM threat saying we will be "blind" after the next AQ attack is a little too close for comfort here.

When I challenged EOM on the CN&V forum (under a different screenname for obvious reasons) as to how the "total destruction of America" was going to happen (assuming they "only" had a FEW nukes), he responded that "Russia and China will finish what is left of you off". At the time, I laughed at this, and was sticking to my theory that EOM was nothing more than some college-age twerp getting his jollies with twisted jihadi-erotica images of America's collapse. (In other words, I thought he was a fruitcake and bellowing empty threats). Now, in hindsight..this is another "coincidence" that I'm not too happy to recall.

Net net, this Russian "exercise" seems to be for no good reason, hasn't been done in over 20 years, and has a VERY eerie timing coincidence associated with it.

Pray, my friends, that this is all just a very strange set of coincidences.

By this time, I think we have too many of these 'coincidence' things. Over the past few weeks, I've seen to much, not to think there is something to it. As bad as I hate to say that. Just HOW much are they capable of doing, I wish I knew. I just pray if there is anything, our guys can catch it and put a stop to it.

Good old Night Soul must have had a rough day yesterday. He was also ranting and raving on another thread on that same forum in Arabic about a reality show on the Lebanese channel where men and women were dancing and kissing and embracing were ruining the morals of the young Muslims everywhere. HOUSTON (Reuters) - Security for Super Bowl XXXVIII will be as extensive as at previous versions of the NFL's showpiece event since the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, officials said on Thursday.

This year's Super Bowl has not been designated a national special security event but the NFL's vice-president of security Milt Ahlerich said that would not alter the level of protection.

"The only difference for this Super Bowl is that the Secret Service is not in charge," he told reporters.

"Other than that everything is the same. The security is consistent with what we have done, the cities have done, the federal government has done for us and our fans the last years.

"We have not wavered from that level of security and we're going to continue with that. The plan follows very closely what we did in the last two cities."

Following the 2001 attacks on New York and Washington, the White House declared the 2002 Super Bowl in New Orleans a national security event resulting in the most elaborate measures ever seen at a sporting event.

Most of those same security measures will be in place for Sunday's game between the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers, including temporary flight restrictions around Reliant Stadium.

But this year the Houston Police Department has been placed in charge of co-coordinating the security plan which will include 25 local, state and government agencies.

That's the link that was posted this morning. There's a translation at www.homelandsecurity.net that is pretty accurate so I'm going to defer translating. It's basically Night Soul on a rant about how wonderful an atomic explosion would be against the enemies of Islam.

I'm looking at about 9 months of other posts by the poor dear. Looks like his date cancelled on him last night or something cause he sure was in a foul and sanctimonious mood! But he's no nuclear scientist and based on what I see he's just an armchair jihadi - he hasn't posted anything of any value in the 9 months he's been registered that I've found yet. I've still got more posts to go through so there may be something there, but I doubt it.

I wouldn't worry about old Night Soul.
