Why an appeals court opinion on Jose Padilla is not anti-government
01/28/04
In a recent decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit held that the president may not unilaterally arrest a U.S. citizen on American soil and hold him indefinitely in military detention as an "enemy combatant." That is, he may not do so without Congress's prior authorization for such detention.

Sorry, I do not see the Super Bowl crowd going down town to the tunnels, there is not that much there and there are no tittie bars down there, they will all be in the SW or W part of town or around the Galleria area. Who would want to party in down town Houston anyway?

Here's more:
South Main-- South of downtown and midtown is the Museum District and Hermann Park. This is a lovely part of town with lots of green space. Most of the museums are set closely together within a few blocks of each other. Here also are the Houston Zoological Gardens and the Rice University campus. On the south side of the park begins the Texas Medical Center. A bit further south is a complex of buildings holding the new Reliant Stadium, the old Astrodome, and the AstroWorld and WaterWorld amusement parks. There are many hotels in this part of town to suit all budgets. The location is quite convenient. It's close to downtown, to Uptown, and to the restaurants and shops of the Kirby District.

Not that it matters, but Uptown, Montrose, and the Kirby are my favorites. Man, I'd hate for us to lose any part of Houston.

Times like this, I always remember that famous Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." The whole curse is: "May you live in interesting times, and come to the attention of powerful people."

We probably should be on Orange, but I don't think they'll do it due to costs.

Lavender Essential Oil.
a drop on temples and back of neck for headaches.
smell it for stress and rapid heart beat.
on nightclothes near nose, will help you sleep and also help with breathing problems.
on cuts, burns and insect bites.
helps stop snoring, Scott rubs it on the sole of his feet.
can be mixed with any good cooking oil, olive and almond is good, 3 to 5 drops to a tablespoon for oil, for massage or hand lotion. I love Jojoba oil.
I have to watch it, as I use it daily and it will burn if overused. but then I am allergic to the doctors medicine and drugstore meds, will fight to keep my lavender.
Try 3 to 7 drops in a warm bath.
Don't forget that if you have it on your hand or wrist, it will calm babies and animals.
If you do a search on the Internet, you will find it is used in almost every cure they think of.
Enjoy and be safe,
Ruth

TERROR BIG GOT A VISA
New York Post ^ | 1/27/04 | NILES LATHEM
Posted on 01/27/2004 4:16:26 AM CST by kattracks
January 27, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed received a visa to enter the United States weeks before the attacks even though he was under indictment for previous terrorist plots in the Philippines, it was revealed yesterday. The visa, obtained by al Qaeda's master strategist on July 23, 2001, was one of several new details of blunders made by government agencies prior to the attacks that emerged at a hearing by the independent commission probing the attacks.

Much of downtown has been renovated with many high-priced lofts, bistros, restaurants, bars, parks will be filled with bands and anyone looking for an excuse to party will find it this weekend. Not everyone has a ticket to the Super Bowl. It is actually quite nice in many areas now. There are way more football fans here than there are tickets, obviously. I didn't mean to imply anyone would be in the tunnels. I was responding to the converstion regarding the warning re: subways and trains and simply stated that while there are no subways here, there are tunnels. If these guys are going to try and hit downtown Houston, that would be one location to plant a bomb.
On the other hand, if they want to hit the stadium (not trying to sound morbid), the prevailing winds will likely be from the south to the north, carrying whatever fallout there is to the north, into the downtown area.

Good info. I remember a while back when everyone was running to the twexus site that one of the pictures
(I do not remember the word used to look up the picture) found had, among the many words and phrases attached to it, the phrase:Select Six Flags. This was right after EOM said he was coming across the border from Mexico I believe.
