RAMALLAH, West Bank, Jan 26 (Reuters) - A top official of the main Palestinian militant group, Hamas, has said it could declare a 10-year truce with Israel if the Jewish state withdrew from territory occupied since 1967.
Abdel-Aziz al-Rantissi told Reuters late on Sunday Hamas had come to the conclusion that it was "difficult to liberate all our land at this stage, so we accept a phased liberation".
"We accept a state in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. We propose a 10-year truce in return for (Israeli) withdrawal and the establishment of a state," he said in a telephone interview from hiding in the Gaza Strip.
His comments appeared to strengthen signs of a big political shift by a faction sworn to destroy Israel and now seeming to move closer to the aims of Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority.

now seeming to move closer to the aims of Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority. Reuters probably didn't mean to show this truth, however, this is exactly what the Palestinian Authority's aims are - first state in 1967 border, then recommence terrorist war to destroy Israel.

I have a better idea. Let Israel give every Hamas member one day to disarm and deNazify. After the one day is up anyone showing any connection to Hamas is shot on site.

They realize they are losing.

" Whatever the prophet is supposed have done becomes a precedent. What Arafat was saying was, "Remember the story of Hodaybiya." The prophet had made an agreement there with the tribe of Kuraish for 10 years. But then he trained 10,000 soldiers and within two years marched on their city of Mecca. He, of course, found some kind of pretext. "

Take the truce, then when they break it take the rest of the country and clean out Hamas.

It would seem that they are floating the lates trial balloon to the west to force concessions. Watch for this to appear at some future conference of liberals and lefties.

If the Israelis accept this offer I'm going to be surprised if it not bargained down to 7 years of peace instead of 10.

Unfortunately, they are winning.
Whenever Israel negotiates with these murderous rogues, then indeed the scumbag terrorists are winning.

Welcome back. I'm sure this makes perfect sense to Reuters, it gives 5 million Jews a decade to find new digs before the campaign of murder starts up again.

Hamas will take the truce, attack Israel, Israel will retaliate, and they will say Israel broke the truce.

Boy, that wall that Israel is building must have Hamas really scared!
Let me get this straight. Israel was attacked in 1967. Israel did not provoke the attack. Israel won the war. When you lose a war you usually lose land. Now, Israel's former attackers (who lost) want the land back? With nothing in exchange? Did they forget they lost the war?
Is my logic faulty in this?
