Clark Presses (Touts) His Military Experience

AUBURN, N.H. -

Democrat Wesley Clark (news - web sites) touted his executive experience as a military commander Saturday, saying it makes him better suited than Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) to be president.

"My experience is the experience of leadership, of setting goals and organizing teams, of bringing people together, motivating and inspiring and making tough decisions," Clark said.

At one of the retired general's trademark pancake breakfasts, a woman asked Clark what she should tell friends who are trying to decide between him and the Massachusetts senator, now leading the polls in New Hampshire.

Clark called Kerry a hero for his military service in Vietnam, and said Kerry has had a great career in politics. But he also said his three decades of military service, including being supreme allied commander of NATO, provided him the training to be president that other candidates lack.

"The presidency is about doing, not debating," he said. "It's about taking action, not taking assessments," Clark said. "It's about making decisions on issues of national significance and international significance and life and death."

Clark and actor Ted Danson visited a small country store in Epping, N.H., in the morning. Every aisle was full of supporters and people who wanted to meet Clark.

Danson said he's enjoying seeing how seriously New Hampshire voters take the primary.

"It's really fun to bump into someone who wasn't for Wes Clark, and watch them discover him," said Danson, best known as the bartender on the television comedy series "Cheers."

"I'm convinced he really does have the best chance of winning," the actor said of Clark.

Danson said he believes Clark is the candidate the Bush administration most fears. "I really do think he's their worst nightmare," he said. "He really is what they pretend to be. His only agenda is to serve this country."

Clark is not readuy for primetime and has a poor grasping of the issues, especially national security

I am shocked to learn that Wesley Clark was a military commander. You would think he would at least mention it during his run for the nomination. < /sarcasm>

Exactly the qualifications you look for in a dictator.

On Meet The Press this morning, Tim Russert pressed Clark about Michel Moore's "deserter" comment, and gave Clark a chance to disavow what Moore said. Instead, Clark stuck to his mantra that "Moore has a right to his opinion", and that he (Clark) "hasn't looked into the matter". What a piece of slime.

The man along with the rest are liars. It's that unilateral thing they keep talking about. It is truly one of the biggest bald faced lies I have ever heard. I believe their were several countries that sent troops.

This is totally outrageous and people that believe this are completely clueless.
