TVC Weekly News: NAACP Leader Resigns Over Judiciary Committee Scandal |
Summary: The memogate scandal in the Democratic side of the Senate Judiciary Committee has claimed one victim so far.
Elaine Jones, head of the NAACP's Legal and Defense Education Fund, has resigned her post in the wake of complaints lodged against her by Project 21, Coalition for a Fair Judiciary, CORE, and the Center for Individual Freedom before the Virginia Bar Association.
Project 21 is a conservative black organization, part of the National Leadership Network of Conservative African-Americans.
Jones' resigned because of exposure of her memo to Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) asking the Senate Committee to hold up the nomination of a Bush nominee until after an affirmative action decision was issued by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mychal Massie, Project 21 spokesman said, "It is impossible to avoid the conclusion that Elaine Jones cast herself on her sword in the light of the ethics complaint against her. While this is a triumph for justice, a full investigation is needed to expose the behind-the-scenes dishonesty and corruption that is so apparent in the Senate Judiciary Committee's past."
The Coalition for a Fair Judiciary has posted Jones' memo, plus other memos exposing the extremist organizations working behind the scenes to influence the decisions of Senate Democrats on President Bush's judicial nominees.

I hadn't read this anywhere, and searches didn't turn it up here at FR. I thought this was an interesting development. Has anything else at all happened regarding memogate (other than the hunt for Republican staffers)?

Thanks! I hadn't heard this either. Kind of the equivalent to burying a news story on the bottom of page B24 (LOL).
Its amazing that Petah Jennings didn't give this a few minutes on the nightly news {/sarcasm}

NONSENSE! Don't believe it!! Neocommunists, dems and black "leaders" NEVER resign for ethical reasons! They have little concept of ethics and, therefore, feel little need to be concerned about them.
Ethical reasons, however, are often used to cover the frequent standard crimes. My bet is that there is a "real" reason for this resignation. It will have to do with money, a relative on the payroll, double billing, OR maybe, Jesse has fathered yet another adorable but illegitimate little girl. There is more to this!!

Nice to see Project 21 getting some press even if it is just conservative press at the moment. The other media will catch up.

Jones was not the only one involved in this conspiracy - Senator Kennedy and other Democrat Senators carried out the requested action and should also resign. Period.

Elaine Jones, head of the NAACP's Legal and Defense Education Fund, has resigned her post in the wake of.... (she was exposed as corrupt)Good news, and congratulations to those organizations which worked to expose the corruption of Jones and the Senate Democrats.
Good riddance to this crooked scumbag Jones.
Next up: Senate Democrats.
To: Tacis
There is more to this!!I agree.
These liberal scumbags NEVER resign out of shame. They don't have any.
Jones was pushed out, probably with quite a fight, and probably for the purpose of getting the investigators off the NAACP's back. I'm sure she will continue to be involved in the operations. I hope that the organizations which exposed her corruption aren't fooled into thinking their mission is accomplished. They need to keep digging.
And I would hope that the FBI is investigating the Senate Democrats' side of the corruption.
To: Lancey Howard
They probably felt that her resignation would get everyone off their back, so they could keep right on doing what they were doing before.
