Owner Kills Gunman in N. Phila. Grocery Store

A North Philadelphia store owner has shot and killed a man he says shot a store employee during an armed robbery attempt.

Police say the suspect walked into the B and S grocery store, in the 1400 block of North Franklin Street, pulled out a gun, and demanded money.

The gunman fired one shot, wounding a shop employee. The owner of the mom-and-pop store pulled out his own gun and fired one shot, hitting the gunman in the head.

The employee, who was not identified, was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition with a hip wound. The suspect was pronounced dead on arrival at the same facility.

No charges are expected to be filed against the store owner.

The store owner was probably Apu Ghandi, the guy Hillie mistakenly said worked in St. Louis. But, when are we going to stop the slaughter of our fine young brothers by cowboy gun toting foreign born store owners?

Geting so a brother can't rob a local corner store without fear of getting shot. What's the point of having a black mayor? Well, at least there will be mass demonstrations to protest the shooting and the bury this fine young man.

Good. I lived in Philly for 10 years during the 80s/90s. It was sickening how many mom and pop store owners (or their kids) got killed during that time. Most of these people were Asian, with the perps being black.

I wished more Asians would consider weapons to protect themselves if they are going to do business in a high crime area. (not saying all black areas are high crime, just that the ones in Philly with which I'm familiar were high crime.)

It just killed me that these Asians were willing to buy businesses where no one else would (including many of the local blacks), provide a grocery or dime store in the neighborhood, and they wind up being the first ones killed. None of these big men had the cujones to go rob the Safeway; just shoot some 4'10" VietNamese woman behind the counter.

We had one of these miscreants try to rob the local hippie store. Young kid, about my son's age.

Musta been surprised when hippie-boy pulled out a gun and killed him.

Interestingly, a planned protest (you know, white guy kills another innocent black) fizzled out. Apparently everyone who knew this kid knew he was bad news and was glad to see him go.
