check out this story in Forbes:
Dollar lifted by rumor of Bin Laden capture
NEW YORK, Jan 22 (Reuters) - The dollar gained ground on Thursday, with traders citing a rumor that Osama Bin Laden had been captured.
Some traders said they believed the rumor sprang from a planned joint U.S.-Saudi press conference on financing.
Midmorning in New York, the euro slipped from about $1.2700 to about $1.2670, but then recovered to about $1.2680.
"There was some rumor -- the usual Bin Laden rumor that we had caught him again that came out, and some rumors of a joint Saudi Arabia/U.S. press conference ... which was an opportunity to take profits on the euro," said Grant Wilson, senior foreign exchange trader with Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh.
The Treasury Department said in a media advisory posted on its Web site that Treasury Secretary John Snow later on Thursday "will announce a joint United States action with Saudi Arabia in the financial war on terror."

Fixed income and convert traders are talking about it, but this has been floated so many times that it is talked about as a what-if scenario. i.e. If true equities will be up and treasuries down with CDS's tightening, but no real movement yet. Will continue to monitor.

I just saw this listed as a 'Rumor' in one of the Yahoo financial chatrooms too.
It would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

OSAMA CAPTURE DENIEDUS officials have denied rumours that the al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been captured.
Chatter in the foreign exchange markets suggested the chief suspect of the September 11 attacks had finally been caught.
The talk caused the dollar to strengthen as speculators moved in to make a profit.
It is thought the rumour was prompted by a forthcoming press conference between the US and the Saudi government.
"There was some rumour - the usual Bin Laden rumour that we had caught him again that came out, and some rumours of a joint Saudi Arabia/U.S. press conference ... which was an opportunity to take profits on the euro," said Grant Wilson, senior foreign exchange trader with Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh.
The two countries are due to announce "a joint United States action with Saudi Arabia in the financial war on terror", according to the Treasury Department web site.
America has poured millions of dollars into the military effort to capture bin Laden.
He is thought to be hiding in the tribal regions of Afghanistan bordering Pakistan.
Several key members of the al Qaeda network have been captured but so far no information has been uncovered leading to the hiding place of the Saudi dissident.

excuse for why the Treasury Secretary is doing a presser with Saudi officials. Why do they need an excuse? He's there talking about Iraqi Debt.
Statement by the Press Secretary
Special Presidential Envoy James A. Baker III will travel to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia on January 19-22 to discuss reduction of Iraq's official debt. Special Presidential Envoy Baker will also meet with Iraqi officials to discuss Iraq's debt.
