If he were wise, Bush would take his cue from the 1996 election. Conservatives stayed home or voted Perot because Dole was quite weak on key conservative issues. If he/Rove are wise, they would study the 2000 election. 1996 is not relevant. Bush barely won in 2000.
There is no doubt that Bush probably picked up democrat supporters after 9/11 and Iraq, but chances are they are in states that are heavily conservative to begin with. There is also no doubt that he probably picked up democrats here and there over the illegal immigrant issue.
You have to offset that by people that voted for him in 2000 getting upset over Iraq, illegal immigrants, etc. and either not voting or voting democrat (including democrats that voted for him in 2000 but are going to vote democrat in 2004). Throw in democrats that didn't vote in 2000 (such as in Florida) that are not so apathetic anymore and are making sure to vote in 2004 (including the dead and convicted ones, lol). You could throw in a state like Arizona - I'm sure the folks down there are pretty riled up over his immigration plans. The list goes on.
The question has to be asked - in the "swing" states, did he pick up more votes than he lost since 2000, as well as did he lose any states that were very close and went his way in 2000.

Bray... that is what a donkey does. Maybe that is fitting, considering your defense of illegals and your inability to face facts.
I don't know why the farmers in your area don't use machines. You could be right about them.
I had more than TWO neighbors that were farmers, reread the post. We had two that grew apples and another 10 that raised other crops. Want to try again.
You are right that legume machines are far different than produce machines, in fact the machines are unique to each crop.
"Some do, but many/millions head for Mexico and live through the winter with their families. Why do you think that this is Mexico's top income??"
And yet many still do not wish to go the legal route to do it. We should just reward them.

There won't be a 'next time around' for any of us if the dems win this election.

Oh, to be a "country-club Republican" who didn't have to work for a living. Or, to be an unemployed beer-swilling redneck in a non-airconditioned trailer sitting around in one's underwear all day, posting narrow-minded posts on FreeRepublic (which seems to be the other wing of Freeperland).

On the other hand, a post like this one highlights Bush's conservative values for all to see. In the face of this information, for the bashers to continue to argue that "Bush isn't conservative," rather than the more reasonable position that "he isn't as conservative as I'd like him to be," is frankly, idiotic, or worse. I question their motives.
Mega-dittos to that!!!!

He is really no different then his daddy. You showed your hand with that one.
I bet you never voted for him in the first place.
And I love the way you insinuated that if we don't agree with you, we're in favor of socialism.

Amazing how much the self-described "true conservatives" in this place sound like Democrats. You mean with comments like: ... you could put a gun to my head and I wouldn't vote for Bush...?
I hear the same thing from Democratic acquaintences on a daily basis.

I want my judges. And I ain't gonna shut up about it. Bush still has time to do it, right now. If he wants my vote, give me the damned judges. He's already been informed that the others were offered recess appointments and turned them down, but that doesn't seem to matter to him.

I am so much more in tune with reality than you are that it's really funny. I guarantee you that the vast majority of "conservatives" in your neighborhood and in the nation will pull that lever for Bush next November. You can't guarantee anything because you don't know.
And, frankly, I think those who say we should do otherwise should lose their right to post here.
This is "Free Republic" remember? Maybe you would be more comfortable starting your own website - might I suggest some titles: "Communist Dictatorship", "Thought Police Central", "Beserkly University"... Maybe you could try that line on Jim Robinson or the Admin Moderator. Go ahead...e-mail them and see if you can shut someone up because you don't like what they have to say.

91 perecent of registered Republcans support this president and his policies. A fairy tale. No, a true tale. FoxNews and AP have had stories on Bush's approval ratings with Republicans and he has been holding between 85-91% lately. It was 85% at the beginning of the month and this week saw a bump due to the speech.
