Hillary Scowls, Teddy Growls as Bush Touts Iraq Victory

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton could barely contain her disdain Tuesday night as President Bush used his State of the Union address to trumpet U.S. victory in Iraq.

Noting that "some in this chamber and in our country did not support the liberation of Iraq," Bush reminded, "Had we failed to act, Iraq's torture chambers would still be filled with victims, terrified and innocent.

"The killing fields of Iraq, where hundreds of thousands of men, women and children had vanished into the sands, would be known only to the killers," said Bush.

He then proclaimed, "For all who love freedom and peace, a world without Saddam Hussein is a better and safer place."

The line had members of both parties scurrying to their feet to applaud the national achievement, but cameras caught a bored-looking Sen. Clinton scowling at the floor as she reluctantly clapped her hands.

A few moments earlier, Bush got Teddy Kennedy's goat by noting:

"Already the Kay report identified dozens of weapons of mass destruction related program activities and significant amounts of equipment that Iraq concealed from the United Nations.

"Had we failed to act, the dictator's weapons of mass destruction programs would continue to this day."

As Bush spoke those words, cameras trained on Kennedy showed him shaking his head in abject disgust.

After the camera zeroed in on Hillary! she abruptly started to smile. Was she wired for sound so someone could warn her the camera was on her - to prevent what happened at the earlier SOTU when she was caught frowning repeatedly?

Kennedy's head shaking looked almost involuntary -- and when he put his hand up to his face he looked as if he was trying to hold his head still.

I noticed Shrillary's abrupt smile as well. You know how the "cankled one" loves a photo op. "Driver-Diver" Ted Kennedy was flapping his jowls with his hand. It looked like he was trying to air dry them or something. Rangel looked as if he were asleep. It is always fun to catch their reactions when they are unaware.
