Tancredo for president, group says

Immigration critics in Tennessee want to draft Rep. Tom Tancredo as a protest candidate in the upcoming Republican presidential primary, but don't expect the Littleton lawmaker to become their volunteer.

"A lot of people think my politics are crazy, but I'm not delusional. I don't think I'm going to be president of the United States," Tancredo said Tuesday, in response to a new committee, "Tennesseans for Tancredo," touting a write-in candidacy on the Internet.

Some immigration critics are so upset about President Bush's proposal to offer legal status to millions of illegal immigrants that they want to field a protest candidate in Republican presidential primaries in Tennessee and elsewhere.

A Web site, www.tennesseansfortancredo.com, cites the need to "make noise, collect signatures, build a grass-roots movement that attracts citizens from all walks of life and all political parties."

With or without Tancredo's approval, they hope critics of Bush's plan will write in Tancredo during state presidential contests.

Tancredo said he supports Bush on most issues besides immigration and could not see himself having much of an effect on Bush's chances.

This week, the representative launched "Team Tancredo," a political action committee to raise money for candidates who oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants.

"Tancredo for President" bumper stickers have been floating around the Internet for more than a year.

"It's a conversation starter," he said. "And the conversation usually starts with, 'Who the hell is Tom Tancredo?' ''

They give the following good advice,VERY IMPORTANT!!!:

"At the first table where you check in to vote, ask the poll worker for a paper ballot for the Republican primary. At no time go into a voting booth, or your paper ballot will be disqualified."

Thanx for the Heads Up NewRomeTacitus, I've emailed them -g-

I hardly consider my vital messages spam.

Spoken just like every other spammer who thinks there is some Constitutional right to be heard.

Why do you intimate they're spam?

Because they were. If I were the WH webmaster, I would have done the same thing.

I actually don't dislike hispanics which is why I guess I'm not considered a "real" conservative.

What?!

I've emailed the White House also and they ignored me as well. Seems they don't have the cajones to respond to the questions of a lifelong conservative Republican who voted for GWB in 2000.

Some things are indefensible, and pandering to Latinos as both GWB and gray davis have done makes that list.

Please copy/paste this post for Zulu has our camPAIN in a nutshell!

Also it will explain succintly to the people who bash 'us' what we are about!

The point is not to damage Bush. The point is to make a point. The only way to impress some of the pinheads advising Bush, like Karlville Rove, is to send him a message. The GENTLEST and LEAST damaging message (to Bush and to us) is to write in Tancredo in the Republican Primary for President.

I absolutely agree.. people will say Clinton gave an amnesty to illegals BUT first the numbers were MUCH lower and the plan Bush has proposed has much worse consequences.

That was not meant as a personal insult to you, but I'll believe this EO rumor when it happens and not before.

they do not want to hear the truth. They do not care what they consider enough of votes to sway the election against Bush. Ridge said it and you best believe it. No matter how many of you write-in,fax-call, the program is a fact and it 'will' happen!
