Chemical Weapons Found In Iraq By Mike Minton Talon News January 12, 2004

Danish troops Friday discovered what is believed to be Mustard Gas or some other form of blistering agent inside a cache of 36 aging warheads near the town of Al Quarnah, just north of Basra, where some 400 Danish soldiers are stationed.

Lt. Nikolaj Groen, spokesman for the Danish Defense Command, told Talon News, "I can confirm that 36 mortar shells, with what is believed to be a blister gas, have been found by Danish forces in Iraq."

In an exclusive phone interview, Major Wolf, the Duty Officer for the Danish Army Operations Command in Iraq told Talon News that he didn't think the weapons could actually be rebuilt or reused.

"They had been there a long time," Wolf said.

Wolf said that civilian Iraqis did not play a role in discovering the weapons, but noted that civilians provide "information about the locations of explosives."

"That gives our Live Ordinance people a chance to clean up anything left from the war," Wolf said.

When asked whether the Iraqi army showed any interest in trying to "resurrect" any of these WMDs, Maj. Wolf said, "No, I don't think so. I think they may have been forgotten."

Wolf added that the "whole larger area" around the weapons find is "sealed off and under guard around the clock."

"We've warned the local people to stay away from this area," Wolf said. "Right now we're waiting for the U.S. and U.K. governments to arrive ... to do further testing."

A Danish military official told Talon News that, in total, Danish troops in Southern Iraq have recovered approximately 170 tons of ammunition.

The official said that the recent findings are "approximately 50 pieces of 120 mm mortar grenades with a liquid substance that military measurements established to be blister gas."

"They have made 4 tests -- 2 Danish and 2 British -- and they all confirm this," the official said. "Samples are at present in a laboratory to get results confirmed."

"The model and decade of the grenades indicate that they were buried just after the Iraq-Iran war in the late 1980s or so," the official added. "They could be a local depot for Saddam-troops in case of them having to fight a rebellion."

The official says the grenades are "eroded and leaking" and are most likely inoperable.

Yet Another Smoking Gun! This one has been found by our Dnish and Lithuanian allies who have uncovered about 170 tons of ammunition altogether!

It's should of course come as no surprise that the left has already been able to discount this outstanding find by claiming that there are now no illegal agents to be found in the warheads. Nevermind that Hussein possessed them to begin with, nevermind that he used them agianst his own people and others, nevermind that the UN forbade him missiles which he had that would fly further than the UN regulation limit.

Of course, this story must be, for democrats, entirely faked since we all know the Evil American Empire, for democrats, Acted UNILATERALLY in Iraq. Didn't Pelosi and Daschle remark just last night that the 'war' needs to be internationalized, in their rebuttal to President Bush's State of the Union Address?

For them the presence of these foreign troops is a minor sacrifice to the gods of truth. After all the American people are, for democrats, too stupid too realize that other countries are not only nominally involved but actually making a difference in Iraq.

Oh no not again! I don't wanna know! Why can't they keep their findings to themselves until they are absolutely sure. It makes them look like idiots every time and gives the bobblehead dems something to shake their head about!

Actually, I believe this story, dated 1/12, is out of date. My understanding is that, after testing, the liquid was found not to be mustard gas at all.

Why do I doubt that "Ryan Bailey, an Intelligence Analyst for the U.S. Government" wouldn't notice that this is a very old article and that subsequent ones have been posted here that debunk it, if Ryan was smart enough to do a search first?

It never happened. All tests about everything that ever happened are negative. This post does not exist. I do not exist. You do not exist.

Your information is out of date. The shells contained no gas. That was determined a few days ago.

I hope that this is not typical of what our "Intelligence Analysts" are officially reporting to the US Government. 9 days late and several dollars short, it seems to me.

Perhaps you're right. I note in his profile that he gives lectures. I think I'll invite him to speak at the next meeting of the Creative Anachronism Society.
