No one here claims that this president is the ultimate conservative. (Hey, some of us disagreed with things Reagan did, but still voted for him....twice.) But given the options, I'll take him in a heartbeat.
You know, my parents were kids growing up in Italy during WW II. My Mom was 11 when the war broke out and my father 17. During the final year of the war, the Germans forced them out of their homes so they could be used to garrison their soldiers, and my Mom and Dad and every person in their village lived on the lam for a year.
When the war was over and they returned home, the Germans had burned all of their furniture to the ground. When I say all, that doesn't comprise very much because poverty at that time and place was rampant. While I never experience War first hand myself, I almost feel like I have because my parents kept those memories so alive.
What I'm really trying to say, is that people who don't know the difference between survival and surrender are ineducable, and I pray to the Good Lord that they not prevail.
You cannot do without breaking some eggs.
I admire him for taking these issues head on, even with the election so close.
Amazing behavior from a politician. Totally opposite of Clinton and his father.
He has my respect and admiration, regardless of my agreement or lack of same on some bill signings that I thought he should have sent back.
I regret that not all have the same opinion, but many of these divisive conservative issues have complex realities, like education and immigration.
These issues have many more years before they are straightened out and they cannot be addressed in the confines of one bill or even one presidency.
I understand this fact and act accordingly. I would hope others do as well.
