Kerry to Bush: 'We're coming, you're going'
12:12 AM CST on Tuesday, January 20, 2004
From Wire Reports
DES MOINES, Iowa John Kerry's voice was so hoarse when he woke at 4:45 a.m. Monday that he sent stand-ins to three get-out-the-vote rallies.
But by late afternoon he hopped back on his campaign bus, the Real Deal Express, saying he wanted to see undecided Iowa caucusgoers one last time to "fight for every vote."
Those four words became the Massachusetts senator's political vow in the final weeks before the nation's first presidential caucuses which Mr. Kerry won easily over his Democratic rivals. At a jubilant victory party, he took aim at the Bush administration and special interests.
"We're coming, you're going, and don't let the door hit you on the way out," he said.
Just two months ago, his presidential bid was in turmoil. He fired his campaign manager but denied it was a sign of distress.
Over the course of a few weeks, his style dramatically changed from appearing aloof and lecturing toward an attitude of displaying a willingness to listen.
In speeches, at town hall meetings and even on the elevator, he asked voters to "test him," "to look into his soul," and to "ask as many questions as it takes" to turn them into committed Kerry backers.
Monday night, as he greeted voters entering Urbandale High School, he stuck to his polite, direct appeals for support.
"I need your help tonight," he told an elderly woman in a knit sweater.
His campaign overhall coincided with growing concerns among some caucusgoers over Howard Dean.
He told a young man wearing a "Dean for America" T-shirt, "I guess I can't get your" vote.
"Well, once you get there, I'll support you over Bush," the man replied.
Sen. Edward Kennedy, who campaigned for Mr. Kerry, called his win "an extraordinary upset" that using favorite Kerry line "marks the beginning of the end of the Bush presidency."
"We love Iowa," he said. "Iowa voters found John had the leadership quality, the strength, the trustworthiness, the steeliness, to address the concerns of ordinary, average people, and to offer a vision for the country."

Anyone know where that picture is (which was on FR a couple of weeks ago) of John "F-in'" Kerry getting arrested during a Vietnam War protest...the one where he's sporting the "Prince Valiant" haircut?

Mo1, it was suggested that you know where (or have) the picture of John Kerry getting arrested during a Vietnam war protest -- the one where's he's sporting a Prince Valiant hair style. Do you have it?

The Perot candidacy in '92 killed any spark #41 might have garnered later on when people started paying attention to the campaigns of #41 and Clinton. Perot had the oxygen the GOP needed.

John Kerry walks with his hands behind his head on May 31, 1971, as police escort veterans and supporters from the Lexington Green.

Good pic.
How about the one where Kerry supports the Communist North Vietnam and boldly poses in front of the VC flag--dishonoring the very medals he sullenly wears?
The guy is a poster boy for High Treason.
On the campaign trail, White House wannabe Sen. John Forbes Kerry regularly mentions his Vietnam War combat experience, during which he received three purple hearts, the Silver Star and Bronze Star. However, the Massachusetts Democrat doesn't like to talk much about how he received the awards or the time after he returned home when he was rubbing shoulders with Hanoi Jane Fonda as a much-celebrated organizer for one of America's most radical pro-communist groups. |

I found this one also about his brother .. It's almost Nixon like
Cameron Kerry, John's brother, in 1972. On the eve of the primary, Cameron and campaign field director Thomas J. Vallely, both then 22, were arrested in the basement of a Lowell building that housed the headquarters of Kerry and another Democratic contender, state Representative Anthony R. DiFruscia of Lawrence

What is the point of winning a war on terror only to have our economy collapse under the weight of govt "freebies?"I'd rather eat beans than bow to Mecca!

I'd be more worried about Kerry--he has the Vietnam-combat background, he's experienced, he has that craggy-faced serious contemplative, depthful look about him, plus he's tall
You forgot to mention that he lies like a rug and dims love liars. I loved how last night in a speech, he referred to the Vietnam War as "Nixon's war." The crowd went nuts and I wanted to vomit. This idiot will re-write history to win.

If I recall the story correctly .. his brother was caught in the basement looking for files on DiFruscia
Seems his brother is still having problems these days
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1061354/posts Kerry's ties to the firm go beyond campaign contributions. His brother Cameron F. Kerry is an attorney at the firm's Boston office, and David Leiter, who was the Senator's chief of staff for six years, is a lobbyist for ML Strategies LLC, a Mintz, Levin affiliate that provides consulting and lobbying services

Here's the article on it
http://www.boston.com/globe/nation/packages/kerry/061803.shtml To win the primary, the newcomer overcame the election eve arrest of his brother, Cameron, and campaign field director Thomas J. Vallely, both then 22, in the basement of a Lowell building that housed the headquarters of Kerry and another Democratic contender, state Representative Anthony R. DiFruscia of Lawrence. It was almost 2 a.m. - 30 hours before the polls opened - when the two were arrested on charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny.
That day's Sun blared a memorable, double-deck headline: "Kerry brother arrested in Lowell `Watergate."' DiFruscia, getting some extra ink in the campaign's waning hours, had drawn the parallel to the break-in at Democratic headquarters in Washington three months earlier.

From eariler times at free republic.
FOUND IT !!!!
"I'm not proud of these medals. I'm not proud of what I did to receive them. A whole year, we never took one prisoner alive. Just wasted them."
Kerry's 1971 book later became the focus of controversy because of the cover photo which showed of veterans hoisting an upside-down US flag.
