Rush's PERFECT comments Re: Donovan McNabb

For those who missed it, Limbaugh performed the most perfect comments on Donovan McNabb this morning by not even mentioning his name.

Instead he contrasted the way that Payton Manning came out and took responsibility for his performance against the way that the media instantly set out to blame the Eagles' wide recievers for what happened to them.

It was the best revenge, because by not mentioning McNabb, no one in the media can say that Rush attacked McNabb, but to all us football fans, what Rush DIDNT say, was LOUD AND CLEAR. Thanks Rush!

I disagree. I don't think McNabb could have played at all, shot or not. He had plenty of time to launch a comeback when he left. He would have never wanted Coy Detmer to bring the Eagles back. McNabb is just easily defensed. In addition, the Panthers made Detmer look incompetent they are a talented defense.

McNabb could have cowboyed up and returned but was tired of getting his butt handed to him. He sat out instead.

yeah, and I'm sure you live up to all the phony machismo of pro football. a quarterback with a rib injury has some difficulty throwing the ball - unless he's shot-up or doped-up, in which case there are still mechanical issues. I've been through it, it's not as easy as "cowboy up." The guy played a whole game on a broken ankle last year.

The panthers won game with a cheap shot on a downed quarterback. There is not much glory in that. It affected the entire game afterward.

He had 25+ minutes to do something before his injury. He got 3 points.

Bottomline? Contain McNabb's scrambling and he's no more effective than any other NFL QB -- and arguably worse because he seems incapable of adjusting. AND he's 0-3 in Championship games.

was that slow enough for you? tapping him on the foot would have yielded the same result.

if the league can expect a 320-lb DL to pull up one step away after a throw, they can expect linebackers to act more maturely in that situation.

I don't like the rules in place, but enforce them across the board if they exist.

Yawn. El Rushbo's amazingly insightful comments {presented after 18 hours of reflection and rehearsal} were exactly {and no more} what most of us thought during the game. Rush has done many great things. Football analysis is not one of them.

Mcnabb is 16th in NFL QB ratings, Brad Johnson of Tampa Bay is 12th. Question > How many of you think that Brad Johnson is a great QB? Rush is/was right on this one.
If you think back a few years ago, Kordell Stewart was a media darling also and does anyone think that he was ever a good QB?

Rush picked the Patriots before the season opened to be back in the Super Bowl.
I have thought all along that his take on McNabb was born of Kordell Stewart's breaking Rush's heart (he is a Steelers fan) by doing precisely what McNabb has done--being an undisciplined athlete rather than playing within the system. That lack of restraint cost the Steelers, and it cost the Eagles, too. There was never anything personal in Rush's remarks on ESPN.

Agree. We are now witnessing the "Leon"s of the media (You know, the guy on the commercial who places blame on everyone and everything except himself) coming to the rescue of Donovan "Leon" McQuitt.

The only way to end the McNabb hype and fraud is to let it leak out to the press that he is a conservative, Republican Bush-backer...

how many times do I have to point out that this is irrelevant? McNabb's position was equally prone to that of a QB who has taken a slide to give himself up. piling on him is beither sportsmanlike, acceptable, or legal within the current rules.

There was no whistle. Apparently the refs thought McNabbit had been knocked down by his own man. Regardless, it was a close call. When I saw it first, in real time, I didn't see anything wrong. When I saw it in slo-mo, yah, I did think it was a foul. There is no rule per se against throwing your body on a "defenseless" QB, because a QB who has not been blown down is not "defenseless."
