No one is running against the president; not a single GOP candidate is running against the president. Is this finally sinking in ? Hello ?

The CP is the fringe of the fringe of the fringe and a " party " that almost NO ONE has ever heard of. You have NOT offered anything/anyone valid, viable, or even particularly interesting.Go read up on what your choice thinks about the WoT, being in Iraq, etc. and then at least attempt to look at the reality of the situation.

If you think that the only true threat to the US is Islamic fascist...that the benefits of illegal aliens outweigh the costs to the US taxpayer...and you are worried more about an invasion by Canadians (Socialists, of course)...

Then I can see how you would think I am irrational.

Oh yes it is. So you actually believe that giving a 30 minute proposal is an act of treason even though congress hasn’t even addressed it. Look, I just want to know, is your hatred of Bush so strong that you seriously consider this as the proper response to his plan?

The GOP today isn't spending anymore than the Democrats did or want. Remember, the Dems had deficit spending for over 45 years and filled up the Soc Sec "trust fund" with IOU's.

And today's "deficits" are no big deal as a percentage of the GDP and overall federal budget which always goes up. I'd love to actually spend less than last year, but the electorate just won't put up with it until they are educated.

Remember 1995 when Newt and the new GOP Congress just SLOWED THE INCREASE in Medicare from 14% a year to a proposed 6%? The were accused, and still are, of "cutting" Medicare by $270 billion based on stupid static spending models. Clinton and the Dems and the willing liars in the press ripped them a new one and they paid dearly.

It's like I go buy a new Mercedes and my wife gets ticked off and says I can only have a BMW and I whine about her "cutting" my car budget. But then I'm not forcing my neighbors to contribute to my monthly payment.

Rome wasn't built in a day. It's only been 9 years since the GOP took the House and over those years has gone back and forth with control of the Senate (which really counts to pass things) and only has a 1 vote majority today.

It's going to take probably 10 or more years of more gains to really get things reversed and actual cuts and elimination of departments acheived. But that assumes the voters will go along. Remember, unionized government employees vote! They will always protect their interest. Which is why I'd like to see a proposal to either not allow them to unionize OR take away their right to vote (how's that for radical?).

To be more brunt, we have to wait another 10-15 years until all the FDR babies die off to really change the nature of Soc Sec and Medicare and the increasing size of the federal government. Democrats are still getting elected on the trust of the government over the "evil" private sector and as long as they have willing idiots to believe it, it's impossible to change. Just look at the idiots they interview in Iowa and New Hampshire.

But once we create a majority out of the investor class who are younger and willing to dump Soc Sec for IRA's and dump Medicare for HSA's, etc. it will continue.

The real question is this -- do we go down the drain at 110 mph with the Democrats or 55 mph with the Republicans? Because that is exactly what is going to happen to our nation if we do not put a stop to illegal immigration.

Good point.

Yikes! George Bush has increased the size of the government more and created more government agencies than any other president since god knows when (probably FDR).

Woot! Careful where you're throwing that stuff mahn.

You can't measure the benefits of illegal workers because that's a value, not a number. Cost are easy to measure because they are numbers.

So it's impossible to say the cost outweighs the benefits.

I wish they all would go back and I'm for deporting as many as we can find and I know we can find more. But it's just not going to happen so I'm going to have to be more practical in working out this issue.

And yes, the #1 threat right now is Islamic fanatics that, since the cold war is over, have been unleashed like the opening of Pandora's box. That is a real threat because they have demonstrated an ability and willingness to kill.

I'll say it again: until illegal Mexicans start strapping bombs and blowing restaurants and malls, it's not even close to the threat from Arabic fascists.

Nope, it's SERLING...as in the titles of the following books :" SERLING, THE RISE AND TWILIGHT OF TELEVISON'S LAST ANGRY MAN ", by Gordon E. Sander, " ROD SERLING The Dreams And Nightmares Of Life In The Twilight Zone ",by Joel Engel, and as mentioned in " THE TWILIGHT ZONE COMPANION", by Marc Scott Zioree.

I watched that show when it was first run, I've watched the reruns and marathons every single time they're on T.V., I've read the aforementioned books, and though it is true that I am FR's Queen of typos and sometimes inadvertently misspell a word or two, the man's name was ROD SERLING ,you are not nearly as clever or erudite as you imagine yourself to be and know far less about Rod SERLING , politics, reality, and debating than you assume.

He consolidated a bunch of agencies into the Homeland Security Department that has forced them to now work under one boss and have their budgets monitored.

So, tell me, exactly what are all these NEW agencies he's created? Please...list them.

Oh I don't know, calling a legislative proposal a capital crime is a pretty good start don't you think? Now in my neck of the woods, if you believe anyone worthy of execution, then that ain't love baby. And if it is done over a damn proposal then that is crossing into the realm of real dislike.

It's gotta be the time of morning. .

MAP does not hate George W. Bush.

But she and I both utterly despise him trying to slow roll us on immigration reform at the expense of Americans who have lived in this country for generations and the migrants who came in the front door of naturalization instead of the back door of political deception and opportunity.

Dubya needs to answer my questions.

Look, it's NOT " whatever you say "....I stated facts, gave you books for reference and you are just dead wrong/incorrect. Go look it up, go do a Google, go look up those books. And then ponder what else you are wrong about, though you just as passionately claim that it as fact. :-)
