Conservative groups break with Republican leadership
The Washington Times ^ | 1/16/2004 | Ralph Z. Hallow

National leaders of six conservative organizations yesterday broke with the Republican majorities in the House and Senate, accusing them of spending like "drunken sailors," and had some strong words for President Bush as well...

However, when the big race (the Presidency) is vacated by the Constitution Party, they then give the impression of irrelevance. It would be better if they at least endorsed one of the 2 likely winners of the election rather than do nothing.

They can't, xzins. Their die is already cast.

One of the two likely winners will be from the Republican or Democrat parties. The Constitution Party is running viciously anti-Bush, so they can't endorse him with a straight face. If they endorse the Democrat (which would seem likely since they definitely hate Bush), they would then lose their aura of Conservatism. No intellectually honest conservative can support a Democrat for President in '04.

This is what we call a knight-fork on the chessboard.

Conservatives don't make excuses for the greatest growth of government since LBJ

You might as well be talking to a brick wall Normy. RJ has in his mind that the only way to win is to have another Goldwater debacle of 64.

Sad to report the Republican party has already been hijacked and is no longer conservative.

Poor, poor lost souls, just keep focusing your eyes on those tree's in the forest, some day you will make for a good Liberal.

Yes it is and a good debate should be encouraged.

That is what I am doing, some here just want anyone who does not agree with them to leave. Now I see you would like to see your vote diluted and a Democrat elected by 40% of the vote frome here on out so we could all really bitch.

The least votes that go any non-conservative party, the better.

As I said before, the CP does not fit my overall political mold. You may think the War On Terror is illegitimate, by all means, support the CP. I don't agree with Bush on alot of things, that shouldn't be a reason to bolt from my principled beliefs into a belief system or third rate party that is 180 degrees out of phase with who I am politically.

Howard Dean would thank you if he heard that.

As long as you mean that in the classic liberal sense. For the record, I am not lost, therefore, i am not a follower.

Could not have said it better. What you are hearing is the sound of denial and futile optimism. I would like to believe the "half a loaf is better than none" theory. I don't think half a loaf even comes close to describing the situation I envision with the loss of our American sovereignty. And this brought to you by "conservatives" is different from loss of our nation by liberals how again??

I HATE knight-forks on the chessboard.

In the long run, though, you gotta choose.

If they don't, then irrelevance will HURT them badly.

I guess Rooster I guess would have to say he appreciates Clinton more than Bush because gov't was smaller under Clinton?

By the way does anyone have the growth numbers on gov't for the last fourty years, or at least the breakdown in spending under Bush in the last three?

If I hadn't already made a generous contribution to FR in the FReepathon, I'd be gone. I sent 2 emails already to JimRob asking for my money back but he hasn't replied.

Folks,
Someone contact JimRob and find out how much this "generous" contribution was. We'll take up a collection and see if putupon is telling the truth. I suspect he has too much fun being a rabble rouser to ever leave FR. I'd expect him to change names and continue as always.

Badly or not-so-badly, it doesn't matter. How they've positioned themselves will smart no matter what.

" Because you see if you are honest you know Bush would do the opposite of what I just wrote."

Here's another example of the reality distortion field operating on a victim.

Let's pick a few points and remember what Bush has done.
* "have abortion on demand without a fight"
Tell me what legislation has Bush signed that will criminalize abortion and has no loop-holes big enough to drive a Mack truck through. (Hint: the answer is not the PBA Bill. Go here for a hard-hitting analysis: http://www.operationsaveamerica.org/press/press/031105partialbirthabortionban-bogus-legislation.htm)

* "have homosexual marriage legalized by the Supreme Court" and "use the world court and its laws ... [and] not the Constitution"
OK Normy, where was the bill of impeachment when Sandra Day O'Connor appealed to international law in the majority opinion that overturned Texas' sodomy law last summer? If the GOP was silent on this one, you can be sure they'll be OK with a ruling in favor of homosexual marriage. (By the way, there was only one national political party that addressed this outrage: http://www.constitutionparty.org/releases/6_28_03_cpnc_denounced_pro-sodomy_ruling.htm)

I could go on but I've got to check on some other comments. I await links to actions by the GOP/Bush Administration on these two issues to contradict my point.

That makes zero sense but let me ask you a serious question and I would like an honest answer. What conservitive values does Bush have if any and has he done anything you would describe as conservitive yet in his last three years?

Most of the growth has come in Homeland Security, but IMO, RJ would rather have a demo President and a Pubbie Congress. The theory is called gridlock, but we are at war and it seems that RJ and his ilk could care less if a Dean or Clark is the Commander in Chief.
