National leaders of six conservative organizations yesterday broke with the Republican majorities in the House and Senate, accusing them of spending like "drunken sailors," and had some strong words for President Bush as well...

"I do not get it. "

Well, there's two "things":
1. Advocating a return to a more constitutional governance- OK.
This is the good part of the "fringe" third parties. It's sad but true that most Americans don't give the slightest thought to the wisdom in the Constitution. Attempts to educate them are only beneficial to us all.

2. Advocating against the party that will beat the Democrats- bad!
The Constitution Party and other third parties just can't do anything electorally. A Republican voting for them is just voting for a Democrat at this time.

Here's hoping in the future a wiser electorate leads to better politicians in all parties!

You know what sauro, I find your reply #152 and your tagline quite ironic.

Without the threat of conservatives bolting and going to a third party for the election, what is holding the GOP's feet to the fire to not heap ever more spending upon spending?

Better to be understanding while trying a little friendly, logical persuasion about why they shouldn't give up on Bush.

My apologies, and I will endeavor to keep check on my comments to suit your ilk's tastes.

George Bush: As President and Commander in Chief, his goal is to protect our country on a worldwide scale. No doubt in the minds of most, after the first attack on our mainland killing thousands of innocent Americans he has performed his duties admirably.

After 8 years of B.J. Clinton and his tenor under the oval office desk, Dubya has hoed a long row in bringing back the respect to the office of the Presidency.

In performing his duties as CIC has delegated admirably to the Congress and the Senate THEIR oath of office in taking care of domestic affairs as dictated in the Constitution through our democratic republic that represents the people, and at the same time offered his power of office to help guarantee the safety of our free system by promoting a system of homeland security, which in turn has created enough confidence in our system to regain a respectable "free market" return that made it possible to cut government encroachment on our hard earned labor by cutting taxes.

All in all he has done a fabulous job of giving the people of our country pride and confidence again...less the hard core malcontents.

Sorry for the long post, however I could go further with optimistic fervor, but band width is an issue donchya' know.

I did, but if you didn't like the answer I gave you, thats because you didn't give me viable choices to begin with.

There were only two choices based on you previous statements, are you admitting to arguing irrationally in one or more of them?

also support the Republican Party vs the Democrat Party.

I understand that, but it is my opinion that when George Bush strays from conservative principles, if we just nod and say it's OK, he'll go even further.

Inner party complaining is the only thing that has a chance of stopping this horrid neocon shift to the left, IMHO.

Unfortunately, I really don't give that much of a chance, the base complained after Ridge floated the trial ballon back in late November about the Amnesty, yet he went ahead and did it anyway.

The base has protested about his Socialized Medications, yet reports are he's going propose enlarging that in the State of the Union Address.

I say a GOP win is a defeat when in reality it turns out to be a party left of the LBJ Democrats'.

Nothing I post is to done to benefit the DimRATs, it is done to try to keep the GOP from becoming just like them.

Okay...let's settle this once and for all.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES VOTE FOR BUSH! SIT IT OUT OR VOTE THIRD PARTY AND GET....

1. worse out-of-control spending

2. higher taxes

3. crashing economy

4. amnesty for illegals on the fast track

5. more liberal judges

6. more laws through judicial activism

7. entry into the World Court

8. pull-out from Iraq and more terrorist attacks on American soil

ETC. ETC. ETC

Sounds good to me:-)

If you can't see the strategery of this administration I don't know what to say.

I can see it...re-election at any cost.

It sounds too familiar to me.

With respect to you, that would be a very wrong move returning the money. Jim put it very clearly.

My statement was rhetorical.

Fair enough. My only point in joining this discussion was to point out that posts like your #161 above are FAR MORE EFFECTIVE than other posts. That's my point. You were kind and persuasive, therefore effective.

I do not see CP members as my enemies at all. One day, they may be the vital additional support we need on one conservative issue or another.

But your points are very well made.

I see you think Bush is basicaly Bill Clinton w/o the sex stuff. Well if thats what you think than I could never convince you. If I thought Bush was like Clinton, dishonest, gutless, sellout I couldn't vote for him either. I however think he has integrity so I believe what he says. I also think he loves America and wants to do whats right for his country. I could never say that about Bill.
