"... I will not support him his madness. If he loses it will be on HIS head..."

Do you actually have some sort of a plan, or solution here, or just criticism? Is your plan that we should throw away our votes, a la Ralph Nader, on some nobody, out of principle? What principle? That it's better to have someone who will really screw us over, instead of someone who can't meet our impossibly high standards, but comes close? You Bush bashing, 3rd party, black helicopter fearing liberaltarians are really doing your country a service here. Well, from the liberal point of view, anyway.

Well so you hope. This poll is not one of them though. 53% is just about right when event driven bounces such as Saddam are taken out. If Bush maintains that average for another year he will win big.

By the way, I find it interesting Gallup found the need to tout this number: when it was climbing the past month, the news was hard to find...

I'm surprised it's that high..

Wait until people really start thinking about colonizing the moon and exploring Mars. Looking for more aliens to ship in perhaps?

I wondered who would be the first to toss about that sophomoric line. Congratulations.

Give me credit -- I suggested you just visit there to find out what they are up to and are not a contributing member. I do realize that there are extremists on the right that believe Bush is the anti-Christ ushering in the New World Order and One World Government and Religion. You're post would fit right in with them.

Bush knows the issue is unpopular with the majority in the US, so why did he do this now? What was his motivation. Did he think with his popularity so high he could get away with it? Or is it that his Business/Globalist puppetmasters jerking his chain?

Thinking back to the pipe bomb that was set off at his daughters university, I wonder if that was a reminder warning him to keep the commitments that he had made. Since that time he certainly has made some odd decisions.

What would you think of Tom Ridge as the nominee in 2008?

Nope. He's pro-abort. A pro-abort candidate cannot--and should not--win the GOP nomination. At least not any Republican Party that I will be a part of.

Last week, CNN/GALLUP/USA has his ratings at 59% and this week at 53%? Nothing has happened that has made this drop 6%. Think that something is wrong in the polling data somewhere. Overall, I think he is at 55% with personal approval ratings in the mid 60s...

Yes, and the first thing we did as a group in FR was Freep his immigration amnesty, and he dropped it like a hot potatoe. So now what is his excuse? Why does he think he can get away with it again?

Maybe he's worried that the Republican Party will lose the coveted nickname of "The Stupid Party".

That immigration proposal is no big deal

Maybe not to you. But apparently you're in the majority, even on FR. It's a very big deal to the rest of us.

Folks all these polls are bogus. The pollsters have not adapted to the changes in the way Americans communicate with the world. Cell phones have messed with their samples. How do polls deal with those who have only a cell phone and cannot be surveyed? More and more people have cells and now land line. These people are missed and through samples off and thus polls off. Caller ID is another way people screen incoming calls and thus elect not to be included in a poll sample. Take what you see with a grain of salt when it comes to the results of political polls.

I am waiting for the Tancredo supporters to say wether their candidate advocates mass deportation, concentration camps and the rest which they seem to suggest so easily and the problem would be solved. But dont think Mr. Tancredo has ever said that anywhere and so, we get back to the blame game...

"...He abandoned us..."

No, it is you who are abandoning us, because nobody who is electable could ever, ever meet your standards. So go vote for your 3rd party nobody, and with any luck, one of the Kucinich morons from DU will vote for his 3rd party nobody, and you'll cancel each other out, as if you didn't exist.

Interesting figures there deport.

I also recall that Carter sponsored a limited amnesty program for thousands of Cubans and didn't get re-elected, while Reagan sponsored an open amnesty program for millions and did.

Hmmmmm? Historically it's a shame President Bush's plan isn't an amnesty.

They are grasping at straws. Bush got a small bounce after Saddam and it is now back down to what it was in October. This has nothing to do with immigration.

I don't know about polls but I do know about the talk at the local coffee shop. Bush has lost a lot of support over the immigration issue.

No offense, but you should all kiss off. we have an honorable and courageous president, and the last thing we need is so called conservatives to abandon him, as they did his father. My safety and the safety of my family means a little more to me than that. His Daddy was an honorable man followed by 8 years of scum.

Good points. As I said on another thread, I don't always agree with the man, but I do trust him. My former party is led by a revolting pack of liars, nutjobs and wannabes. None of them are fit to hold the office of President. G.W. Bush is more than fit; nobody is perfect, and so many want someone they can fit into a straitjacket brand of conservatism.

And I'll rant a bit more. One contributing factor to all this "he abandoned us" nonsense is conservative talk radio. I'm conservative and I love it. But they take conservatism to the level of a religion. Certain sacred cows are a bunch of simplistic red meat, such as about illegal aliens. Who can't agree every time they shout "they're ILLEGAL?" BUT who is going to do something constructive about it? Bush is trying to.
