No offense, but you should all kiss off. we have an honorable and courageous president, and the last thing we need is so called conservatives to abandon him, as they did his father. My safety and the safety of my family means a little more to me than that. His Daddy was an honorable man followed by 8 years of scum. Go ahead and make another horrendous mistake because Bush has proposed a perfectly sensible attempt to get illegal aliens registered and on the books and out of here w/i a few years. If you're waiting for someone to round the illegals up by the millions, dream on. You didn't see Ronald Reagan attempting that in 8 years, did you? Don't worry, I'm sure Howard Dean will do a better job.

Read the excerpt I posted. His approval absent the Saddam bounce is the same a it was in Oct. the last quarterly poll. He, at least according to this report, has not gained or lost support on the immigration proposal, it just appears to be the loss of the capture bounce.
To: Texasforever
It could be but the proposal has not been a big media topic. The big news has been on the "Bush lied" flurry of stories that may have gained a bit of traction He did lie
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the United States."
To: Texasforever
I wouldn't expect his numbers to be sinking, with an improving economy and things going well in Iraq.
To: Texasforever
The last poll put out that mentioned illegal immigration had it about 6th in voter concerns.
Yes but that was one poll and Jobs/Economy were number 1. The two issues are intertwined in the American workers mind.

The Washington insiders would say that it's because the bloom is off the "capture of Saddam" rose, the media focus on the Iowa Caucus, and several missteps like the "let's go to Mars on money we don't have", the yellow/orange alerts, and the immigration proposal. But if you want to believe it's only about the immigration proposal, go right ahead. It's still not bad (historically) for a President facing reelection next fall.

Rove's great mistake is finally revealed.
Rove nothing. Bush campaigned on this. Let's not resort to the Left's tactics of blaming Karl Rove for everything emanating from the White House.

What was his motivation. Bush ran on this in the 2000 election; you just didn't notice or didn't pay enough attention. He was pushing it right before 9/11 and backed off -- which was probably a wise decision as there had to be a lot of work to get the Homeland Security department off the ground and Democrats delayed it for nearly a year. It should not have surprised you.
Or is it that his Business/Globalist puppetmasters jerking his chain?
Puppetmasters? You know -- going over to the Democratic Underground to see what they're up to has shown to have lasting mental effects.

His Business/Globalist puppeteers? What are you talking about? You apparently think GW is just a puppet of some shadow group of international businessmen. You are going to fit in real well with the rest of his detractors. Personally, I think you're just a mouthpiece of the anti-business/communist puppeteers.

So what you're saying is we should be good little true-believers.
Bush is selling out this country for a cheap labor pool, and I'm supposed to accept it cuz he's tuff on terrorism?
NO! I Expect my leader to protect this county both physically AND economically.
To: Terpfen
They are grasping at straws. Bush got a small bounce after Saddam and it is now back down to what it was in October. This has nothing to do with immigration.
To: StatesEnemy
He did lie... "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the United States." How has he not done that? By giving a speech and guidelines to congress on the issue of illegal immigration? Your standards are impossibly high for a president.

Survey Methods "These results are based on telephone interviews with randomly selected national samples of approximately 1,000 adults, aged 18 and older. For results based on these samples, one can say with 95% confidence that the maximum error attributable to sampling and other random effects is ±3 percentage points. In addition to sampling error, question wording and practical difficulties in conducting surveys can introduce error or bias into the findings of public opinion polls." So they talked to whoever picked up the phone, regardless of likelihood of voting.
And who is at home during the day?
So this poll is pure bullzogby.

It isn't "WE" who are making the mistake. It's that honorable President who is making the mistakes. I will not support him his madness. If he loses it will be on HIS head, just as it was his fathers. It's up to him to earn the Conservative vote, not just assume it will be handed to him regardless.

Those "conservatives" aren't abandoning the President; they were never with him. Most of his highly vocal critics are still stuck in Campaign 2000 when they were supporting one or another of the third party hacks.
To: Texasforever
and I heard a poll on the radio today giving him 60% approval.
