We're power mad. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Fuel-sipping hybrid gasoline-electric cars may get plenty of hype at the North American International Auto Show, but when they vote with their wallets, more Americans elected a big, powerful V8 engine last year than any time since 1985.

For 95 grand it would have to produce a heck of a lot more power than VW is touting it as. Now personally I want to see the V10 that's supposed to be in the new Shelby

There will be no 05 Cobra. The 06 will come out in December of 05 or March of 06.

Good choice! I didn't get the V-10 because I like travelling to distant places...

The 5.4L engine is just fine - it gets from the Valley to Vegas in about 4 hours, doing 90MPH avg:) Very quiet and comfy ride due to the big wheelbase. Nice sound system. It's 6' high now and will be 2-3" higher this summer sometime:) Shorter women get lost in it:)

What is the name of this deep red color ? I don't think its a factory color, is it ?

Could be. Here's a color chart for '67 Mustangs, and it appears that it could be either "Candyapple red" or "Vintage burgundy."

There is a special tonight (Jan 15) on The Learning Channel on Project Daisy (The New Ford Shelby Cobra). 10 pm est replayed at 1 am Replayed again in February.

V10, 600+HP, over 500 ft lbs of torque

That would piss off the tree huggers !!!

Shelby is also producing a continuation of the '65 Mustang GT350R

the american auto industry is right where it was before the 1970s oil crisis. oil prices are going to be much higher going forward, as the dollar weakens to control the trade deficit. in the meantime, the Japanese and Germans are investing in technology for hybrids and clean diesels which will really hit the US market when the clean diesel fuel rules come in 2007. In the meantime, GM and Ford are boring out V8s and still using overhead valve engines.

Yep. I had a '67 GTO. The 400 was a "smallblock" because it was based on the 350. The 396 was about the smallest displacement I can remember that was considered a big block.

In the rain it was one of the scariest rides I've ever been in.

Talk about stress stuck on a hill in the rain.

Anyone familiar with DC are will know where and how I spun out my '88 Mustang LX (5.0) back in the days:

Heading north on Canal Road on the MD side of the river, where the two-lanes split and the northbound road goes up a ramp before splitting right to MacArthur Ave and left to the Clara Barton Expry. You go up the hill, take a sharp left, then curves back sharp right, and straightaway down to I-495. I'd hit it in 2nd gear coming up to the turn and punch it on the curve right, slap through 3rd and 4th and be in triple digits at the top of the band in 4th long before having to downshift for the 495 access road exit.

Well, one night there was a drizzle... spun out coming off the curve right -- landed straightaway, a full 360, and kept going, never stopped. Couldn't believe my luck. Shaken, and very stirred. Nice little adrenalyn buzz to match.

The block is all aluminum and mates to a Ricardo six-speed transmission that is topped by a billet shifter. Ford's J Mays says it can do zero to 60 mph in "under four seconds" and will "approach top speeds of 180 mph."

Love those engineering exercises! There's another V-10 Mustang running around Dearborn with a one-off engine that is based on one of Ford's V-6 engine blocks. Do a Google search for "Boss 351 V-10" and you'll see a few references. The smaller, lighter V-10 displaces just about 5.7 liters, hence the "classic" name for the test car.
