GORE TO WARN OF 'GLOBAL WARMING' ON NEW YORK CITY'S COLDEST DAY IN DECADE!
In what political watchers are calling possibly the biggest gaffe in years, former Vice President Al Gore is set to give a speech tomorrow on the perils of global warming -- on what is expected to be the coldest day in New England in nearly half a century!
MORE
Against the advice of senior advisers, Gore is planning to appear at the historic Beacon Theatre in Manhattan on Thursday to issue an indictment of the Bush administration's "inaction on global warming."
Gore will make the warming case on a day forecasters are predicting the coldest temps in Boston since 1957, with wind chills in parts of New England plunging to 100 degrees below zero!
MORE
Even though forecasters predict Thursday night will bring the coldest temperature reading in New York City in more than 10 years [1 degree above zero], sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT that Gore is determined to deliver the speech -- hoping to make the case how "Global warming" is actually the cause of the record cold snap!
MORE
"The extreme conditions are actually the end result of the planet warming," Gore has told advisers, sources say, in explaining his motivations. "The Bush policies are leading to weather extremes."
Sources would not say whether the speech is to be given outdoors.

What a dunderhead! The effects of global warming are supposed to be manifest in warmer winters.

New York Post ^ | 1/15/04 | STEFAN C. FRIEDMAN January 15, 2004 -- Mother Nature is threatening to give Al Gore the cold shoulder today when he gives a speech on "global warming" at the Beacon Theater. Accuweather is predicting the temperature will reach a high of a bone-rattling 14 degrees this morning - accompanied by snow and high winds - while Gore blasts the Bush administration's policy on global warming. "We don't control the environment," said Lisa Sabori, a public-relations official for MoveOn.org, the group sponsoring the event. "Maybe [the speech] won't apply in New York right now, but Vice President Gore will be highlighting the effects of...

I've heard Gore is going to say that this extreme winter has been caused by global warming .. HUH? And .. I heard that the temps in Boston are supposed to reach an alltime record low ever recorded.

This nonsense is one of many reasons Gore has repeatedly lost his bids for the presidency.

Weather on this particular day (or yesterday) has no bearing on whether or not there is global warming. The issue is worldwide trends. You can look up any number of scientific articles that try to determine whether current climate trends are out of the ordinary or not.
I am not convinced there is or isn't global warming, but the fact that the East Coast is in a cold snap has nothing to do with it. If Gore had been making this speech last summer in Paris when it was 106(surrounded by corpses of people who died from the heat), he would not be any more or less convincing. Anecdotes do not make statistics or trends.

From what he wrote in his book .. that alone should have disqualified Gore from holding any kind of public office.

Yeh, the first 'Earth Day' was filled with a concern over global cooling. Go figure!

I am not convinced there is or isn't global warming The climate appeared to warm up in the beginning of the century and then peaked in the 30's and 40's. We then had a cooling trend until the 70's and have been warming ever since. The real question is what effect if any has man had on the climate. The global warmers are grossly overstating their case and assumes man accounts for most if not all of the changes.

Anecdotes do not make statistics or trends.Yes, but anecdotes do make for a laugh or two!!!
Here's hoping Gore makes his speech outside.

I don't pretend to be a climatologist, but I'm sure that more than one source has said warmer winters would occur. AFAIK, it's not happening in the northeast of the US. The whole debate about greenhouse gases causing global warming is nothing more than speculation. While theoretically possible, it ignores the effects observed in ice core analysis and satellite measurements of variations in the Sun's radiant energy. I'm sure I can find references, but the hour is late.

If it's too hot, it's global warming. If it's too cold, it's global warming. If it's too wet, it's global warming. If it's too dry, it's global warming. If it's too stormy, it's global warming. If it's too calm, it's global warming.
If it's global warming, it's Bush's fault.
Anyone notice a pattern?

In my humble opinion
This is much more important !

I often wondered what would happen to the spin if it actually got colder. The spinners will have an answer...trust me.

Of course it's President Bush's fault ! He and Dick Cheney made a secret deal with a groundhog when he last came to Punxutawney. I can't tell you the specifics since Ashcroft's hitmen are on my trail, but the blasted rodent got some juicy rebuilding contracts in Iraq, if you know what I'm saying.
