"It doesn't matter that Limbaugh probably still believes McNabb was the one who cracked under pressure with a bailout lob, and Favre was the one who showed true grit in the face of fourth-and-26.

The films don't lie. In this case, they show a pocket passer being "very desirous" of securing a first down without any help from the press box.
"

must have been a different film, I saw a packers defense play some horrible coverage( would it have hurt to jam the WR) and Farve throwing a ball that still defies explanation.

Limbaugh would end up out of a job, too, for taking the Philadelphia Eagles' slow start as an opportunity to tell his ESPN audience that McNabb was a fraud. A media creation. A black quarterback getting by on the color of his skin.

This guy is a fraud for representing what Limbaugh said in that way.

I think I must have been watching a different football game then. The second half pretty much degenerated into a sandlot game with the Packers abandoning their rushing game completely, playing bad defense and Farve looking like a rookie.

McNabb rushed for over 100 yards.......does that measure greatness???? If so, Bobby Douglas has to be the greatest quarterback ever. I have little use for Limbaugh, but in this case he was right, McNabb is horribly overrated.

Yet another article that proves what Rush was saying. McNabb threw half his passes in the dirt, at least at the beginning of the game. He had one good drive. Favre lost the game with one of his occasional bonehead heaves. Not to mention that failed goal line stand. McNabb dethroning Favre? Only in the liberal imagination.

McNabb is not that good of a QB. He wasn't very good at Syracuse either. He's very athletic, but he can't think.

Rush was correct in his assessment of the media, if he was wrong in his assessment of McNabb! He could have said the same thing about the media's treatment of any one of the 3 top black women writers or about its treatment of so many mediocre racial minority actors and comedians, or its treatment of the amazingly dismal career (since the '70s) of a famous Las Vegas bluesman.

Why is McNabb's career "amazing"? Let's see him lead his overrated peace-of-sh/t-of-a-team to a victory in the Big Dance first. ....Or even just take them there. He'll be 0 - 3 in NFC Championship games if Philly loses to Carolina next week. .....My money's on the Panthers.

What makes McNabb so overrated is that his "versatility" is actually a weakness in the NFL. If you had told me last week that McNabb would run for more than 100 yards against Green Bay, I would have told you that the Eagles would lose the game. NFL teams don't run wishbone or other option-type offenses, so whenever a quarterback runs for that many yards it's the result of a miserable passing game. In the case of Philadelphia, their biggest problem is that they may very well have the worst receiving corps in the NFL.

Ironically, McNabb's style of play is very similar to that of a former Philadelphia quarterback named Randall Cunningham -- who also never won a championship ring, either.

My rating of McNabb's skills:
1-leadership "A"
2-running ability "A"
3-toughness "A"
4-passing ability "C"

I know these guys on TV like to descibe great plays and that One McNabb made to Pinkston in the end zone was great but Eddie Labaron and Fran Tarkington and Roger Staubach and Bradshaw madde a hell of a lot of evasive tackle passes in their careers

Of course, all this assumes that Rush was actually criticizing Donovan, which he wasn't. He was criticizing the liberal media for lauding black quarterbacks perhaps undeservedly in some cases. Strangely enough, I've seen a lot less of that this year among many broadcasters...

As an Eagles fan who witnessed the media frenzy over both Randall Cunningham and Donovan McNabb, I truly believe that the "novelty" of having a black quarterback drove the enormously race-conscious media to over-hype them. Randall Cunningham, though a good QB, was never worthy of the accolades and promotional money he got, in my opinion.

However, given McNabb's gutsy performance earlier this year and his sheer magnificence last week, it's becoming clear that he probably is a future resident of Canton, OH.

I disagree with Limbaugh. His original assertion was that McNabb was overrated by the press because he was black. I could be wrong, but I took this to mean that the press over-hypes black QBs.

There are black QBs who fly along under the radar, doing good and sometimes great jobs, but who rarely get a mention. McNair, Aaron Brooks. Culpepper, maybe.

There are also white QBs who are or were over-hyped. Rich Gannon, Drew Bledsoe, Doug Flutie.

So yes, Rush, McNabb is probably over-rated. But I doubt that race is the primary reason.

The comments that I heard on that broadcast were directed at the media, NOT McNab. In fact, at the end of the segment, one of the other talking heads agreed that Rush had a point.

There seems to be more of a fuss over anyone suggesting that RACE is an issue in the media (Jayson Blair) or in the NFL. What happened to the teams that did not interview the correct recipe of potential coaches before making a selection? They were fined!

I heard Rush's comments again today and they are as I remembered hearing them the first time. He was commenting on the desires of the media to promote a successful negro as an NFL quarterback.

-Sound of Cardinal4 making choking sound-

He is an overrated QB, just like the team is. And before anyone points to the regular season record, let me just say that doesnt mean shiite, when you have had three shots at the big dance and have blown them all. The team is overrated and the QB is mediocre at best..
