President Bush Spends Private Time with Rope-line Soldiers
Military Intelligence web-board | 1.13.2004 | TruthNtegriy

Posted on 01/14/2004 9:08:33 AM PST by TruthNtegrity

This is the entire message I read:

Haven't heard this in the press but was posted to one of my military INTEL sites. Sounds right though and seems to be in line with other similiar reports of our President and his interactions with his military..........

Quote

" On 7 November, I had the opportunity to send some of my soldiers to the White House to participate in a Presidential departure ceremony. It was billed as they would get there, get a brief by the Mil Asst. and stand behind the ropes and wave as the president went out to Marine One. I thought it would be a good opportunity to reward some of my Officers & NCOs who day in and day out deal with death firsthand.

As it turns out..Once they got there, they were ushered into a separate holding room from the rest of the crowd and given the briefing. Just as they were to go out to the viewing area, an aide came and told them to follow him. The aide took them through the West Wing, into the Rose Garden. The staff and Secret Service left then the group alone in the Rose Garden . Without a word, the President came out and spent 20 minutes with the group, alone and away from the press. I'm telling this second hand so please forgive me.

They said he came out and thanked them for the enormous job they did for the families of the fallen. As he addressed the group, he began to weep, the emotion he displayed changed those soldiers forever.

They were standing before the most powerful man in the world and he was crying talking about the fallen and the price of freedom. He said he wanted the world to know that freedom was a God given right...for all, not just those of us in the US and that to have freedom, the price is high especially when it is counted in the lives of soldiers who volunteered willingly knowing the possible consequences. The soldiers returned with a renewed enthusiasm and determination to right by the families. As they each shared their stories, they too welled up with tears as they described their time with the President.

The aide said the President never does things like this, but once he found out that folks from the Army & Marine Corps Casualty & Mortuary Affairs Office were participating in the ceremony, he cleared his schedule to spend 20 mins with them.

I just wanted to share that story with you. It makes me proud that our President would do that to show his gratitude to our soldiers."

The very proposals that some of FR despise have been made by the President in an effort to get some help for those most desperately in need of our compassion.

The education bill isn't perfect but it helps the children most in need of standards, the prescription bill isn't perfect either, but there are those who would gladly spend $2 to get $3 in medication. If the plan pays for prescriptions needed to prevent hospitalization that is a huge quality of life issue. If it pays for checkups, now not paid for by Medicare, perhaps some will be helped before the illness becomes debilitating.

This president has asked for nothing that we as Americans ought not to support.

Just my humble, glad to be American, opinion.

I received the same message this morning from an unimpeachable source, also in the intel community. I believe it wholeheartedly.

I agree with you. Also, regarding the much-maligned (here) "Leave No Child Behind" education act supported by Pres. Bush, I received an email today which discussed the fact that the bill ensures students' freedom of religion within public schools. Specifically, here's what the email alert said:

"Within a few days, the federal government expects public school districts to file documents assuring the public that their students are receiving constitutionally guaranteed religious freedom on campuses. New federal guidelines on religious expression are part of the No Child Left Behind Act, the education reform bill that was enacted in 2001. The guidelines clarify that public schools are not religion-free zones, school officials are not prayer police, and students of faith are not enemies of the state. If a single school is out of compliance, so is the entire district and all federal funding for that district is at stake. This means students will be able to pray at the beginning of assemblies and sports events, as well as extra-curricular activities, and will even be able to pray in Jesus' Name. (Intercessors for America)"

Now, this is the first I've heard of this being part of Bush's education bill, but having watched this President, I have no doubts that the report is legit. This is another aspect of how President Bush is promoting conservative values that many of the naysaying "conservatives" on FreeRepublic tend to ignore.

From the source I read this on, I believe it, too.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

To someone who asked if we'd ever see this on the alphabet soup stations, I believe the answer is "No", "NO way", and "Not ever".

That makes sense about the religious aspect of the bill. Here in Norman, every public school classroom now has a sign that reads "In God We Trust" which was approved by our Superintendent of schools and placed in classrooms after the break.

I have become convinced over the years that most of them are knee jerk, emotional reactors, and not thinkers.

There's a whole lot of conservative stuff hidden in these bills, that will make this country a better place.

And I believe that's the goal.

There is no way to fully measure how important having this Commander in Chief is to our military, but those of us with loved ones serving understand its worth.

Hooah!

Well, I could but then I'd have to kill you.

Sorry, I can't do that. It's a restricted Military intelligence professionals webboard.

Since it has been "vetted" at the site, and another poster here at FR reports reading the same report, I guess you'll have to take our word on it. I posted the entire email that was uplinked, leaving off the names for privacy reasons.
