Conservatives Should Support the President Now and in November Becauseā€¦
Jewish World Review, January ^ | January 13, 2004 | Martha Zoller

…They Asked for His Kind of Leadership

You hear it in the coffee shops all over the "red areas" of the map. Everyone knows that is where the real politics is discussed in America. Conservatives are asking themselves, "What was the President thinking?" They might be talking about No Child Left Behind, or steel tariffs or the signing of many less than conservative bills.

In the coffee shops in the "blue areas," liberals don't sit around much. They are too angry and busy to stop for a while but many are thinking that President Bush is the most conservative president in years, since "oh, my God, Reagan," and he must be stopped.

Both of these assessments cannot be true and after spending years looking at politics, I took my first serious stand on a candidate in 1968 at the tender age of 9, if both sides are mad at you, you are probably on the right track. So why should conservatives and moderates support the President, now on issues and later this year at the ballot box?

-snip-

Based on the history of this President, we better not count him out till we see how things unfold. He is what conservatives asked for in a President. He cut taxes, got our economy going again and lives and breathes the safety of this country and the people in it. When it is all said and done, George W. Bush does what he believes is right for the American people and he is willing to stand on his record in November.

Most people know who Tancredo is.

Ask the first ten people you meet on the street tomorrow. I'll give you $50 if ANY of them EVER heard of him.

Don't kid yourself. Most people don't know who Dick Cheney is, much less some obscure Congressman from Colorado.

President Should Support the Conservatives Now and in November Because... That's how he'll get our support.

It's sickening that Bush down in Monterey cutting a trade deal that will allow American companies to charge American prices for products produces at third world wages.

There are very few rich people who get filthy rich as the country takes this pathway to ruination.

But what the hell do Country Club Republicans care? They'll have theirs.

Free trade is not free enterprise. It's economic suicide.

Wake up people. We're being sold out!

The point in doing that is to get the 50% who don't vote anymore to join the fight and take back this country.

Barf!! Now you're using the Deanic slogan.

Can't you be a little original?

And take it back from who? Those nasty Messicans? "Da man" who's tryin' to keep you DOWN?

Give me a break!

Yall are not players. Just viewers, bitching from the side lines.

Like I said, the US is now being oppressed by a class of political whores. The fact is the govt is not living by the constitution and if it were, it would be an entirely different story. The founding fathers did worry about what would happen if people tried to vote themselves wealthy from the public purse.

What would you have me do? Cheer Bush on as he trashes the constitution, puts the burden of the national debt on my children and give the country away to illegals? I honestly do not understand the mentality behind Republicrats. If no one stands up for what is right, then what will we have? I left Canada because the situation was hopeless there. I am not willing to give up on my adopted country yet. You might, but I sure as hell am not.

*scratches head* When did I ever mention the 'Toon, much less say anything nice about him?

When I say wingnuts, I mean people like Ralph Nader, Ramsey Clark, or David Duke. Real wackos, nuts, and flakes who in some countries would have a say in legislation. We should thank the Lord every day that while these guys can have their say, they have no chance of ever seeing thier twisted dreams come to pass.

Of course Reagan was in no way that far out. Moreover he was the leader of a conservative revolution that had already been brewing for some years at the time of the 1980 election. This site is the fruit of the seed sewn in that era.

Now, I don't know why you're mad at me, but could you slow down a little and let me know what's bugging you?

No hard feelings, eh?

Bush has lost a large number of supporters.

SIGH

Bush is doing his damndest to alienate his base

You know, I'm getting tired of posting this, but I'm sick to death of hearing about Bush alienating his base. It's a lie.

The first result is that the Republican Party is more unified than ever before. Ninety-one percent of Republicans approve of the job President Bush is doing. In 1992, Bush's father didn't have anything like that level of support, and even the Reagan administration was split between so-called pragmatists and ideologues.

Today's Republicans not only like Bush personally, they also overwhelmingly support his policies. According to a Pew Center study, 85 percent of Republicans support the war in Iraq, 82 percent believe that pre-emptive war is justified, and 72 percent believe the U.S. is justified in holding terror suspects without trial.

His "base" is with him.

From THIS thread.

I am not a Canadian. Thankfully there was a cure to that called immigration, so I managed to overcome my "Canadianism

Not so far. You still have the Canadian view of US foreign policy so let's see what other Canadian baggage you are carrying. What do you feel about us drug laws?

The President's numbers are still very strong.

You are forgetting that the fringe radicals that make up the LP are only vocal on this forum because we let it happen.

If enough of us complained to Jim Rob about the hate and negativity you and your neo-con buddies spew on a continuous basis, we could make it mandatory that you and your ilk leave this forum and form your own.

I am sure that your types have considered that but you know good and well you couldn't get enough people to make it happen.

Instead, you keep disrupting the rest of us with your sickening rhetoric. It's getting real old to say the least.

If most vote for him anyway, WE CAN WIN!

Even the popular billionaire Perot couldn't come close to winning. He only served to hurt the GOP, which he did on purpose. Tancredo would hut the GOP, but not on purpose. Same outcome.

Bush has lost a large number of supporters.

Recent polls don't seem to show that. Maybe he's gaining supporters.

Between his antics and the Democrats, another option stand a good chance of taking the Whitehouse.

I don't see anything out there to support that.

Failing that, with good numbers we can turn to Janus cabal on it's ears.

There is too much at stake to play games.

Well one thing in your favor is that you lost the legendary Canadian politeness. Do you litter yet?

What would you have me do?

Work to bring change from within the party. Support and wrok tirelessly for candidates in primaries whose politics mirror your own.

Third Party is no "party" at all, unless your idea of politics is diametrically in oppositon to mine.

POTUS has outlined a "proposal" for Congress's consideration. Bashing Bush only serves to help the democrats who will, if they gain power, immediately grant citizenship to the illegals. How do you like them apples?

what difference does that make?

A big difference when it comes to the legions of fat, lazy, big mouths who talk and complain but won't participate in the process...people like that really bother me...I make certain not to listen to them, since they are not part of the solution...they are just whining complainers who don't have the courage of their own convictions...just wanted to make sure you're not one of them.
