I have known Fr. GROESCHEL for a long time. We know him only as Fr. BEN. In 1973, he was a celebrant at our wedding Mass; we have some wonderful pictures of him.
I can only tell you that he is the most wonderful, caring Priest that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. If GOD has decided that he must come to Heaven, then it is our great loss and Heaven's great gain.
We can and will pray for him; the wisdom of GOD will reign.

"Do not do great things...Do small things with great love"
The two people who were with him last night while he was crossing the street stated that he was a hit by a car that he didn't see and obviously the driver didn't see him.
He entered the ER conscious and aware of his surroundings, then his blood pressure dropped.
Fr. Benedict is still in critical condition. Doctors are guardedly optimistic. There is every reason to hope for his return to good health. There is every need of prayer. Please keep everyone praying.
An aside, but it's proven to be a complicated and difficult one, is that many people keep calling about his health. Pray people stop calling the hospital, his friars and Trinity Retreat as all those lines have been overloaded when real communications need to be made regarding his primary doctors and those working on him.
His vital signs are good now. But they need to strengthen before his bones can be set. I believe his right arm and leg may have breaks in them.
Another report follows:
Renowned TV priest Father Benedict Groeschel, author of numerous books and popular EWTN commentator, was hit by a car near Orlando International Airport Sunday night, according to reports on the national radio program, Morning Air with Jeff Cavins.
Details remain sketchy, but reports are that he had just arrived in Orlando and was walking to a place for food when he was struck, possibly breaking a leg and arm. Latest reports indicate that he is partially conscious and awaiting surgery. We humbly ask all to pray for this fine priest.
I was with Fr. Groeschel yesterday morning at a Marian and Eucharistic Conference in Paso Robles, California. We spoke about Mel Gibson's movie, The Passion of The Christ, and the growth of Catholic radio and made plans to speak by phone again next week. After praying the rosary in the conference center, Father took the stage to encourage the audience of a thousand Catholics to develop and spread the devotion of Eucharistic Adoration. Instead of applause at the end of his powerful speech, he asked for a Marian hymn to be sung. ("I can't stand applause," he told the adoring crowd.) As the thousand faithful raised their voices in song, Father left the stage and the building to hurry to the airport to make his flight to Florida.
I am deeply saddened to hear of this accident, and ask all members of the Catholic Exchange family to please keep good Fr. Groeschel in your prayers.
Sincerely in Christ,

May I suggest that Fr. Groeschel might want us to also keep the driver in our prayers. The past 24 hours might have been a time of great pain and tribulation for them also.

Not to sound disrespectful, but he looks like Anthony Hopkins. That's not disrespectful at all. Over the years, I've noticed such a resemblence.
