Don't forget Sarbanes-Oaxley. Long term, the requirements from that law will be so debilitating that no one would want to be responsible for a public corporation.

Wow.. Thank you for laying this out, because sometimes this whole thing doesn't seem real. Just ten months since the attack on Iraq. I have to agree with you, it seems like a decade.
Especially for California, this has been an interesting period - and the recall election felt like it was a whole new election cycle.
You've helped solidify my opinion of Bush, and the great things he has accomplished, and even though I am more accepting of the other issues than others, you've helped ease my mind about them.

This has been the longest 36 months I have ever lived. It just shows how much has traspired in such a brief period.

As the new election year fast approaches the usual hot button issues with the Free-Republic community are starting to bring charges and counter charges that both George W. Bush and the GOP in general have become no different than the democrats. In some ways, the Bush administration is worse, such as out-doing Clinton in spending. He could have stopped this with the veto pen or instructing his cabinet not to spend money on legislation that for unconstitutional activities. So far, Bush has done neither.
Furthermore, Bush has declined to veto funding for pro-abortion organizations. Rather, he signed such legislation. As a pro-lifer, I am opposed to any federal funding of abortion. Human life is sacred at all stages beginning with conception, and it should be defended, not exterminated at taxpayer expense. (For details see Why Christians should not vote for George W. Bush, Bush Betrays Pro-Life Cause Again, Backs Federal Aid to Overseas Abortion Providers, and Redirection of $34 million from UNFPA to USAID a 'stab in the back' ).
There is another word for extravagent, excessive, perhaps even wasteful spending. It is called "liberal."
We are blessed with a candidate who stands for the right to life and restoring the freedoms of the states and the people as outlined in the Bill of Rights. His name is Michael Peroutka, a candidate for the Constitution Party presidential nomination. He needs the support of concerned citizens who want to restore the integrity of our republic.

He had made his mind up that he was not going to be the firewall for congressional republicans that pass a bill with the hope of a veto.
But that's his JOB! That's what a LEADER is!
The real question was what would or could be done about Iraq. Bush had his congressional resolution but with the UN and most of the EU openly hostile to removing Hussein would he (Bush) have the sand to do it anyway. That question was answered on March 20th. 2003. Take a look at that date. That was 10 months ago! I don't know about you but it seems like 10 years ago to me. Bush and the "coalition of the willing" stood up to the world and said you can sit and let real threats exist and do nothing but there are still countries and leaders that will fight for your right to be safe and smug and complete assholes
Yes. I supported Bush in this war and still do. I was proud that he stood tall...until he started caving in after the initial war was over. The cost to the US for that caving? Why re-entry into UNESCO, and that for a pitiful statement by Kofi Annan.
He then turned to federal court nominations and started with a list of approximately 50 all of whom were solidly conservative in both temperament and past rulings.
He put them forth and then all but abandoned them! Where were the calls for passage? Where was his presence? NOwhere.
He then withdrew all United States support of the International Criminal Court
Er...he withdrew us from the International Criminal Court...TEMPORARILY.
that he fulfilled his promise on his signature issue, the Education Bill
No he didn't. He called for vouchers. And he not only gave into the NEA, but when they wanted an increase in their budget, he gave them even MORE THAN THEY ASKED FOR. And Johnny STILL can't read.
Look, I'll give him Kyoto, I'll give him the stellar leadership he showed after 911! I'll give him the ergonomic regulations and the tax cuts.
But he has been a monster with his support for every business interest that comes down the pike. He has repeatedly shown his contempt for the American worker and a total disregard for the boulder on the shoulders of the American taxpayer. He cut taxes..not a big deal for most Americans. But then he increased spending to outrageous levels. The result is that our states have slapped us with higher taxes that make our "tax cut" a JOKE. He's done everything in his power to appease Vincente Fox and open the doors of this nation to millions of third world problems. Again, at the American taxpayers expense. We're the ones who have to put up with his cheap labor. We're the ones losing jobs while he shows "compassion" for that poor little man just trying to feed his family. He shows NONE for Americans in the same plight. NONE! He scowls into the camera and says he's concerned about jobs for Americans. Then he pushes for a worker program to take even more of our jobs away.
SHUT THE DOOR IN 2004 Vote Tancredo.

I forgot to comment on the Partial Birth Abortion issue. He signed a bill that limits ONE procedure, ONE. It is very easily gotten around. It was just one of the "Look Good" deals that did virtually nothing.

Bush has been quietly hitting home runs and if the Dems were quiet.....he'd take 50 States. Their strategy is to hit him hard until the polls close.
So, one has to ask...where would his poll numbers be with a quiet left and a friendly media?
To: Texasforever
Thank you for reminding us of W's accomplishments. I was just thinking of the turmoil our president has faced during his first term. (You read my mind.)
He's led during America's worst days since WWII. The dems just hate the fact that he has done such a good job.
I believe his leadership deserves four more years.

Why do I get the feeling that a lot of the anti-Bush posters here are either DU tourists or part of that whopping .003 percent of the Libertarian electorate?

NO he is not. Tancredo will get my vote, my check and my time.
To: The_Eaglet
Look the "Constitution Party" needs to at least elect a dogcatcher before trying for the presidency. Vote for them if you want. Im not trying to persuade you to vote for the GOP or Bush. He is doing fine without you.
To: Johnny_Cipher
That line is getting old, Johnny. That the best you can do? No facts on your side to refute the arguments?
To: ETERNAL WARMING
Is he running?
To: Texasforever
He will be.

That line is getting old, Johnny. Sorry you feel that way. But when a duck walks up, quacks, and lays an egg, its time to call it a duck.
That the best you can do? No facts on your side to refute the arguments?
"Facts" to back up a "feeling?" That is about as illogical as thinking that Tom Tancredo could possibly unseat Bush. You're of course welcome to try (snicker).

I am assuming you haven't been around the forum too long. No most are not DUers. They are the same batch of "true conservatives" that show up every election cycle to once again proclaim they will never vote for Bush or the GOP just like they didn't vote for them the last time. It is very cyclical and predictable. It adds spice to the forum but I wish they would get some new blood.
