Tray Owen was a vivacious, fiesty bighearted woman--but one who was on a downward spiral as she struggled with addiction and a failed relationship, family members said.
As the 32 year-old house cleaner's personal life suffered, she distanced herself from her family, and some siblings said they hadn't seen her in years.
Her brother, David Owen, was the closest to her. He said yesterday that he last saw his sister about four weeks ago when he ran into her on Murfreesboro Pike. When he saw her, he said, he didn't realize she was in the late stages of pregnancy.
The next time he heard of his sister was Monday, after she was shot five times and killed early that morning on Plus Park Boulevard near Murfreesboro Pike near Interstate 24. Police said two men charged in her death told police they killed the woman because they thought they had hit her with her pickup truck and were afraid they would get in trouble.

Antonio DeJesus Idelfonso, 17, and Eliseo Marcelino Quintero, are charged in Tracy Owen's slaying and could face an additional charge in the killing of Owen's unborn child, detectives said.
The men told police they killed Owen because they thought they had hit her with their pickup truck and didn't want to get in trouble.
Marcelino-Quintero told police he bought the .22 caliber pistol used in the killing for $80 from a man on Thompson Place a few weeks before the shooting, Detective Marvin Rivera said yesterday.
The men worked odd jobs for subcontractors and were in the country illegaly, Rivera said.

50 years ago, they would now find themselves hanging from a nice tulip poplar in front of our faux Parthenon here, but instead today we find ourselves handwringing about being sensitive about their inclusion.
I'm not sure which is worse.

I guess the murder had to be the outcome...I mean, illegals sure don't want to carry auto insurance (may be traced or something), but 80 bucks for a Saturday night special is in the budget, ya know?
They feared they'd get in truble? Gee, we ought to be killing anyone (bill collectors, cops, jusges, tax folks...all of that) in case we have any difficulties?
But amnesty! There's the answer! Yeah! Come on over...ya don't need no stinkng green card or visa, ya don't need no stinkig insurance n your truck, you don;t need no stinking permit for a gun! And, hey...we'll habe yu free health care, education, child care, housing....ain't America friggin GREAT?!!!

I guess this means that we will be too old to care. If I last 30 more years I will be 88. Hey, but wait, I am a smoker, I cannot possibly last that long!

At least the old way preserved society, no matter how flawed. The new way is social suicide.

I was back in Nashville a few months ago to visit my Dad and found that his neighborhood, which used to be decent, has filled up with illegals. It's gotten so bad that my Dad was scared. This is a man who was on Okinawa in WWII. I couldn't change his neighbors but I had a friend (who is a class III dealer) procure a Glock 29 for him. He feels much better now and says he's going to get his carry permit (he's 76).

You can post a story like this every day.

I seem to recall words from Jefferson to the effect that the tree of liberty is fertilized with the blood of tyrannical regimes. From some of the statements of our Founders, they subscribed to a form of 'permanent revolution'.
It seems that throughout our history, some men and women who were chosen to "lead" let that power go to their heads. Fortunately, we've largely avoided the overt dictatorial results of such grabbing of power. What liberties we have lost have been taken incrementally. Much like the proverbial frog in a boiling pot. Taking a long view of our history, I can see where what was once liberties taken for granted are now liberties revoked due to "circumstances" deemed by certain leaders to be essential curbs on individual and collective freedoms. From taxes to religious freedoms to states rights to property rights...and beyond.
It is my firm belief that would the collective Founders to return in this day and age, they'd be shocked, saddened and angered by what they'd see. I do believe they'd be labeled subversive and hunted down as enemies of the state. When we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights that have served us well as standards to live by for over two-hundred years, we do have "leaders" of today declaring parts of those documents to be antiquated and irrelevant to the needs of a modern world. The true subversives are those who reject part and parcel of the founding documents.
As has been so eloquently said, it is better to fight and die a man, standing and free, than to be a bootlicking slave to usurpers of liberty.

I will not be around to see the America I love in another 30 years. I'll be gone too, but I am disgusted with the America that I'll be leaving my sons and my grandchildren. The blame rests squarely on our politicians' shoulders, and history will not be kind to any of them who are allowing this invasion to happen for the sake of their own greed and hunger for power.

At least the old way preserved society, no matter how flawed. The new way is social suicide. Anyone that thinks every one in Mexico is a nice church-going Catholic, very family oriented, Republican needs to go live in the outskirts of Mexico City or Ciudad Juarez for a while.
We're bringing in anyone from a very high crime-ridden society, and we're not expecting a thing out of them --- we don't expect them to learn our language or laws --- this is suicide.
