'Nobody deserves to die like that'

Tray Owen was a vivacious, fiesty bighearted woman--but one who was on a downward spiral as she struggled with addiction and a failed relationship, family members said.

As the 32 year-old house cleaner's personal life suffered, she distanced herself from her family, and some siblings said they hadn't seen her in years.

Her brother, David Owen, was the closest to her. He said yesterday that he last saw his sister about four weeks ago when he ran into her on Murfreesboro Pike. When he saw her, he said, he didn't realize she was in the late stages of pregnancy.

The next time he heard of his sister was Monday, after she was shot five times and killed early that morning on Plus Park Boulevard near Murfreesboro Pike near Interstate 24. Police said two men charged in her death told police they killed the woman because they thought they had hit her with her pickup truck and were afraid they would get in trouble.

Antonio DeJesus Idelfonso, 17, and Eliseo Marcelino Quintero, are charged in Tracy Owen's slaying and could face an additional charge in the killing of Owen's unborn child, detectives said.

The men told police they killed Owen because they thought they had hit her with their pickup truck and didn't want to get in trouble.

Marcelino-Quintero told police he bought the .22 caliber pistol used in the killing for $80 from a man on Thompson Place a few weeks before the shooting, Detective Marvin Rivera said yesterday.

The men worked odd jobs for subcontractors and were in the country illegaly, Rivera said.

They're just here to make a better life for their families and they're only taking jobs that Americans don't want. And if you don't like it, they'll kill you.

The detective said he did not know how long the men had been in the country.

Apparently one day too many.

More work Americans won't do.

But they're only committing murders that Americans are too lazy to commit!

If it weren't for them, just think how much you'd have to pay to have someone killed.

No, the murder was not the best outcome -- but I think we can agree that it is mitigated by the bravery the assailants exhibited when they made their way to this country to make a better life.

USA a safe haven for Mexican criminals fleeing prosecution in Mexico If Billy "Bubba" Bob Clintler is America's first 'Black' President then perhaps El Presidente Jorge Arbusto could be considered our first "Mexican" Presidente

Antonio deJesus Idelfonso and Eliseo Marcelino won't get the death penalty. They have a President in Mexico that will not allow that.

They come from a country with an incongruent legal / ethical culture where anything goes, if you can get away with it. It is one where the underlying rule of commerce is 'mordida' - bribery. How a person gets money or power makes no difference. They are judged only by whether or not they have done so.

I see statements like this once in a while.  When I do it never ceases to hit me, that by allowing illegal aliens to enter and operate within our nation, we are in fact adopting the same 'anything goes' culture they are escaping from.

There is nothing that furthers the criminal's persuit futher, than rewarding his actions.  By rewarding the illegal alien, President Bush has reinforced their criminality.  The message goes out that whoever breaks these laws, they will each be rewarded in time.

Why should I observe our statutes involving traffic, insurance, criminality or societal mores?

Like you, I've just about thrown in the towel.  Our nation is saturated from the top to the bottom with people who either don't get it, or are profiting from it to the point they don't give a damn any longer.  If that isn't Mexico in a nutshell, I don't know what is.  And so, when people say that this nation is not being effected by all the illegal immigration, I just smile and realize that they are too far gone to discuss the issue with.

Take care.

"They're just here to make a better life for their families" .. ...That is exactly what I thought of when I read the article.."taking jobs that Americans don't want"- > "The men worked odd jobs for subcontractors and were in the country illegally".... the contractors should be charged .. for hiring illegals.
