Sharpton: Clinton 'Killed the Democratic Party'
NewsMax.com ^ | January 9, 2004 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 01/09/2004 12:32:24 PM PST by Carl/NewsMax

The Democratic Party is dead, presidential candidate Rev. Al Sharpton said Thursday. And it's Bill Clinton's fault.

Launching into a tirade against Democratic centrists during an interview on Washington, D.C. TV station WJLA, Sharpton complained that's it's been all downhill for Democrats since Mr. Clinton took over ten years ago.

"Bill Clinton won, the party didn't," railed the radical reverend. "And Bill Clinton may not have won if it had not been for Perot."

"That is my point - centrism killed this party," he insisted. "We didn't regain the Congress in 1998. . . In 2000 we lost it all. In 2002 we were demolished, we were demolished. We lost everything as a party."

Sharpton said Democrats certainly couldn't do any worse if they nominated him for president, since the party seems to be flat-lining already.

"People are saying, 'Will Sharpton, the Progressive, kill the party?' The party's dead. I've come to help start the resurrection," he announced.

Though Sharpton's comments are among the most politically explosive uttered during the presidential campaign so far - with the exception of radio host Rush Limbaugh, who played the Sharpton audio during his Friday broadcast - the reverend's outburst has gone unreported.

Is the writer trying for the alliteration of the month award or what. It sounds like something Tim Curry would say as the character he played in the movie "Oscar".

Al's right on the money about Clinton only getting in because of Perot.

No argument here. But, to be fair, Buchanan deserves some of the "credit"...he set the stage for Perot's one act play.

As I've pointed out several times here, Bill Clinton is a secret operative hired by Karl Rove to destroy the Democratic Party. He has done sterling work, and will be suitably rewarded when his project has been completed. BEAUTIFUL!

Leave it to Rush. He knows what we like and he gives it to us.

Clinton may have killed more than the Democrat Party. He may have killed the republic as he taught the conservative party (GOP) how to get and keep power by triangulation and not leadership.

Didn't FR start a FReepers for Al club? I'm sure I saw it somewhere.

Prediction: The Nine Dwarfs will shrink to three stooges by March 1st. Here's how...

Al will marry Carol, Dennis will be abducted by aliens, John will lose his hair, Dick will get hit by a union milk truck, and Joe will assault algore at a bat-mitzvah.

The Deaniacs will eventually beg Mr. John F'g Kerry (he served in Vietnam ya know) to be the Veep.

At the convention, the 30% or so of Dems left out there, will draft Hillary to save the party (after speeches by the Forehead and Serpenthead). And when you think it's over...i42 comes out, drops trau, and moons the cameras.

Ok, I'm done now...really...

I think this is true. I think the DNC with its policy of triangulation was in place before the average rank and file Democrat knew it existed. They totally shafted the loyal labor vote with off shore production friendly policies that Clinton pushed even more than the Republicans. Also, a very large amount of the anti-Clinton sentiment on the right was due to Clinton's personal life rather than his politics. I for one can't accept the notion that oral sex from an intern in the Oval Office is acceptable behavior, and Clinton made the whole thing ten times worse by lying about it rather than admitting it. Without Clinton, FreeRepublic would be nothing like it is now.

Why isn't the good Rev. a shoe in for the Vice President slot on the ticket? When is the Democratic party going to nominate a member of their most loyal constituency for VP?

Gee, it couldn't be because the white RATS are a bunch of racists, could it?
