God...Family ...Country...Which order for Freepers?
Posted on 01/09/2004 11:08:09 AM PST by X-Servative
I have been reading with great interest Freepers comments about amnesty for illegal immigrants, as this is an issue I have wrestled with for some time now. As a Christian, I believe it is our duty to help and assist as many people as we can. With illegals, you have a group of people (in many circumstances) who are trying to better themselves and the life of their family. On the flip side, it puts an inordinate amount of stress on US state and national resources, i.e. education and medical to name a couple.
So I pose this question to Freepers
In what order to you rank family, God and country? And can you intellectually back up your opinions based on your ranking?

It matters not on order. If you honor God, provide for your family, and serve your country (at least for us fortunate Americans), one will not often conflict with the other.

I believe charity begins at home, which means family first. Since I am putting my family first, then I have to make sure the country is taking care of itself too, and so on. So, it really is a cycle. But for me it starts with family.

Family, country.

Supporting your country does not necessarily mean approving of everything about your country. Part of supporting your country is correcting injustice and improving the society.

God, Country, Corps, Family! I absolutely fail to see the logic in this, but respect your choice...thank god we have people that put their family so far down the list.
To: gridlock
I agree with gridlock, good answer, but what the heck does any of this have to do with our feelings about illegal aliens?
It is NOT un-Christian to want LAWBREAKERS to go back to their own countries.

God first and foremost. The order of the next two can't be rigid. Sometimes God calls us to serve country despite the immediate desires of, but for the ultimate sake of our families. But taking care of our families according to God's direction helps to preserve the existance of an upright, moral society.
